Thanksgiving Dinner

Last year I made a big Thanksgiving Diner and all my sis came by but left real quickly to go elsewhere. Apart from that there not to keen towards my man so it was awkward and just not a very good Thanksgiving.

This year I just want to prepare something for my family. Two adults one teenager and two preteens. What will be small, delicious and something they will all enjoy. I'm thinking I don't have to do turkey if I do it will be a very small one. I'm so used to making big Thanksgiving diners and I don't measure to make things in smaller portions. My man wants tamales but I prefer to do those in X-mas. I do want to make something I haven't done before.

I know it's a bit early but I'm the type that likes to prepare well in advance.

One year we did Italian instead of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. My daughter and I loved it but the guys, not so much. How about Cornish game hens? We also did that one year and they were good. I'm thinking to fix Sunday dinner things, rather than traditional Thanksgiving dishes. I agree, I like tamales for Christmas.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I use to do the big dinners when we were close to family. But now family does not come to visit because we live so far away. So we ALWAYS have to go there. The Cornish Hens sound wonderful. Keep us posted as to what you decide.

I know we won't be invited to be with my brothers and Rick's side doesn't get together anymore so it will just be us. Last year we spent it with Rick's aunt and uncle, but his uncle has passed and his aunt is in a nursing home.

I guess it will be left up to me to fix some kind of a festive dinner. Probably won't go all out like I have in the past, but will try to have a turkey and the basics.

Italian sounds good to me......or Mexican!! We've done both in the past and they were good. I think that you should just make something that sounds really good and special. How about sea food? You could do shrimp! Shrimp scampi is really easy to make and tastes just like Red Lobster's. You could also do fried shrimp and boiled shrimp and have a variety!! Ummmm........my mouth is watering!!

Mine was too Diana. That is usually our New Year's meal. Lobster tail, crablegs, shrimp, scallops..and then I make the garlic cheese bisuits.

Is the crock pot recipe here? You think it will go with seafood

I already started looking at recipes. I do want to do something different.

The crockpot recipe is on here. Not sure if it would go with seafood, but it sure is good. Darn near makes a meal by itself. I didn't fix it last year and the dressing we had at Rick's uncles house last year really wasn't very good. So I may have to just make up my mind to go ahead and fix a traditional meal for us. It would be nice to have all the favorites.
