Drat!!! I hit a Deer!!
My daughter and I went to Oklahoma to spend the weekend with a couple of my aunts and on the way home I hit a deer!!! It broke out my grill and some of the lights on the front of my Tahoe. I tried to miss it but couldn't. That's so agravating!!!! It could have been a lot worse though because I was going pretty fast. Here's some picts----

So glad you and your daughter are okay!!!! Those deer jump out so quickly. There's almost no way to avoid them. One of our daughters hit one on a city street after band practice one evening. Messed up the front of her Grand Prix. There was even a hoof print in the hood.
Melissa, Lissa on 4WT, had a close encounter recently. She missed the deer but ended up in a deep ditch. Unhurt, thankfully. It's so scarry when something like this happens. Take care & I'm sure you are counting your blessings.

Diana, I am so glad you and your daughter were not hurt. Isn't is amazing how much damage a deer can do? We have a lot of deer here and there are always accidents.

I think this is the time of the "Kamakazee" deer. I have heard of so many of them jumping right out in front of traffic. More than any other time. Someone needs to teach Bambi some manners.
I am so glad you are alright! |

Im so glad that you are ok! Ive had some bad luck with the deer around here. I hit one in my little cavalier but it didnt do much damage, it just put a little dent in it so we didnt worry about turning it into my insurance. Well a few months later we hit another deer in my cavalier and it completely totaled the car out. So we went and bought a new jeep, and 3 days later hit a deer in my jeep. It was in the shop for 3 weeks getting fixed! Needless to say Im terrified of driving at night and always make my hubby do it!

Diana I am glad to hear that you and your daughter are fine, I am terrified when I drive and they run out of nowhere esp. at night on a dark and windy road.

We have a friend that runs a body shop and he's going to give us a grill and my husband says that the rest won't be too hard to fix. I'm curious what he's going to do about the dent that's on the front fender though! At least it shouldn't cost too much to fix!

Diana, I'm so glad neither of you were hurt!
My friend Londa totaled her car a few years ago when she hit a deer. Another friend came over a hill, swerved to miss a deer and hit another car head on; killing her and her unborn baby. They cause a LOT of damage and misery. They're beautiful animals, but a menace on the hwys.

I'm glad you weren't hurt! I've always been terrified of hitting one. I haven't so far, but my husband used to hit at least 2 a year. Fortunately, it was always in the farm truck and he was never hurt. They're everywhere around here.

We have a lot of them around here also. Our friend in the car body business is giving us some parts to fix the Tahoe and then we'll only have to order a few parts. Whew!!!! I didn't do any motor damage. I must have slowed down pretty quickly (I was doing 70 mph). The damage was only to the grill and the lights so I think that I'm pretty blessed! Oh there was a good size dent in the front driver's fender, but it's going to have to stay there. The Tahoe had several dents in it when we got it and a few more won't hurt.
