Lamar! My new black lab puppy!

Here are some pictures of our 5 week old labrador retriever puppy that hubby and I are brining home on Sunday! I can't wait! We are naming him "Lamar." I sure do hope Lamar and Hootie and Hobbs get along! That's the only thing that has me worried!

Now how cute is this??? Oh my goodness!! What a butterball Lamar is and I am very happy for you.

I had to watch a Lab puppy a few months back for the weekend. Talk about exhaustion!! However it was all worth it!

He is sooooo cute!!! We had a black lab and she was the best dog. We really loved her. Her name was Glen's Shada, kinda' like Shadow but using slang. I loved her name too.

Awwwwwwww, he is a sweetie!!!!! You are going to have so much fun!!!! Be prepared for some major chewing though. Our lab ate the lawn furniture, screens on the back of the house and porch posts. Just warning you so you can plan ahead better than we did. He'll be fine. Enjoy!!!!

Just saw the thread with pics showing the difference between an American Lab and and English Lab. I'm sure ours was American, though she actually looked like a cross between the two, not as thin as American, but not a stocky as English. She was the same coloring as the English in the pic. Her name was Sugar. We eventually had to give her away to a home with more space for her to hunt. She was not happy in the small yard we had to confine her to to reduce the destruction. And when she was in heat, oh my what a mess.

I've see those English labs. They seem to have a completely different personality and would make much better pets. I went on a business trip out of state, and while I was gone, hubby had bought Sugar for our girls. It was a surprise to me. I think the English is what hubby had in mind, but had not done any checking into the breed.

Your pup looks like he will grow to be like the one our lawyer has in his office. His is a really nice dog!!!!

Oh my, Marilyn! I'm so sorry that Sugar was so destructive!! But I am all too well aware that his how labs can be. My husband grew up with labs and his lab that his parents currently have ate through an air conditioner outside in the backyard!!!! We are going to keep our little guy in a crate when we are not at home or not able to supervise him. And he comes from a long line of show dogs, not hunters. So we are really hoping that if we give him the proper amount of exercise and stimulating activity and keep him in a crate that the destruction will be kept to a minimum. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!

And we're still now 100% sure on the name, yet. Hubby said he really wants to get the puppy and see what his personality is like before we completely decide on a name. But I'll keep you guys updated!

Oh what a cutie he is!!!! Rebecca, enjoy he's baby time, they grow up so fast. Mine is two years old already, but she thinks she's a little yorkie
If you take him out for regular walks and runs, he wont be that distructive. Ours has never touched anything that wasnt hers. We crate trained her from day one, and she loves her crate, she knows when we put on our shoes, she goes in her crate. She loves to swim, we take her to the woods, and the lake a few times a week, after her swim, she get's a shower (rinse) Her and my yorkies make a que in the bathroom in the morning for their faces to be washed, it's too cute.

Enjoy him, he's a little darling.

Thanks so much, Mandy! Can I ask you a question?? What age was she when you brought her home?

OMG, what a total CUTIE!!!! We also have a black lab, and he's the absolute best dog ever. He's so very well behaved... but then again, my step-dad spent a LOT of time training him. They're great dogs, as I'm sure you know since you grew up with them. Duke (our black lab) was also 10 weeks before we were allowed to bring him home.

CONGRATS!!!
