Disappointed Hubby :(

*This is more sad than a vent, but I thought it fit here better than any of the other forums.*

My husband has wanted a Nintendo Wii since they first came out. Actually, before then because he had heard and seen clips about what they were going to be like. Our friend Aaron who I've talked about on here before has one and we play it with him and his girlfriend Ashley all the time. It's SO much fun! Anyway, he recently sold his PDA which meant he had enough personal money (money that is his to do whatever he'd like with) to buy one. So we went out today to get it. He was SO excited! Well, we went to Best Buy and asked where to find them, and they said that they are sold out! The employee said that they are harder to find now than they were at Christmas! We never even considered that it would be a problem getting one. I thought all the hype had died down, but I guess not! We spent the rest of the afternoon going from store to store and making phone calls trying to find one...with no luck. We even came home and looked on the internet and couldn't find one. My hubby is so disappointed because he was really excited when he found out he had enough money to buy it. I feel so bad for him...

So now he is playing Call of Duty to try to cheer himself up. I think I'm going to make him a special dinner and see if that helps. I just hate to see him so disappointed...

Yeah, we did, but there is no one there selling it for the actual cost. He only has enough for the advertised price which is $249. All of the sellers on Ebay and other sites are selling them for at least $100 more than that when it is the exact same package. I guess they are able to do that because of the huge demand, but he doesn't have enough and I don't really think we should put any more than that into a video game or I'd just say he could use some of our regular money... The employees at the stores we were at today said that this month they are doing mass distributions so as soon as that happens there will be plenty and sellers won't be able to charge so much. I would just hate to spend that much money on it when it'll be available in the next few weeks...

Angie, try Walmart in small towns. I bought Melissa one in early January. There is a Super Walmart in the small town where I work. A couple of weeks before Christmas, they actually had one of the new Playstations that everyone was freaking out about and standing in long lines to get. So, when I checked there in early January, they had two Wii's. EVERYONE else, Best Buy, Target, everyone was sold out. I think they send every Super Walmart the same number or something, and there is just not the demand in the smaller towns.

I just called the Walmart where I bought Melissa's to see, and they are out also, but it may be worth calling around.

Good Luck!! and I know how frustrating it is to be ready to buy something you really want, and not be able to get it. Did you try Walmart online?

We had our local Walmart call every Walmart even remotely close to us and no one had one. But I haven't looked on walmart.com yet. I will try that right now. Thanks for such a wonderful idea!!

Hang on to the money and keep trying. You'll catch one if you don't give up.

We will. He's feeling much better now. Having one of his favorite dinners cooked for him and then some extra attention from his wife has helped. He is a good guy...and we don't often buy expensive or "unnecessary" things so I hate that this (for now) has been a big let down for him...

Maybe it'll mean that much more to him when he gets it though...

We were at Best Buy last night and they had the Wii. I didn't realize they are so small. They had one at the mall too and I watched this guy playing it. My son wants one so bad, but we have bought him 3 different game systems as he was growing up and told him, no more. He is looking forward to a summer job and that's the first thing he wants to buy.

Angie, maybe your Best Buy can transfer on from Janet's Best Buy. Won't hurt to ask!!

That's a thought....have you tried Best Buy online? The zip code for the Lafayette store is 47905 if that will help.

Best Buy won't sell them online because of the "demand." I tried last night. We will find one eventually...

Angie, have you tried www.fatfingers.com thats linked to ebay - when you type in what you searching for, make a spelling error, it will take you to ebay and finds things a lot cheaper, because people are not bidding on them, simply because they wont find them on reg. ebay.
