I use to get those quite a bit, but I haven't had one in years. I always used the over the counter cremes and they worked real well. And this will be a little more personal, but I always make sure I don't reach too far back when I wiped (I read that can cause flare ups). Also a good douche helps. I've used the over the counter and they've worked good also. Another thing, is be sure your toilet paper does not have all that paper dust. I'm just really conscious of these things now, and I think I haven't had any more problems because of this.

Try to stay away from too much bread because I heard that can contribute. I also heard that douches are bad for you (my gyno told me that) and I have also heard that women prone to these infections should not wear thongs too much because that can cause infections. My best friend was constantly getting these but she had an IUD and had to have it removed because her doc said that was what was causing all of those infections.

I've heard the bread thing too, but don't really know if it's true. Douches are fine according to my gyno as long as it's not more than once or twice a month and nothing with fragrances or add ins. All I know is what has been working for me and I use to get them quite often. It's probably been 15 years or more. Also to wear cotton underwear is suppose to be helpful.

my gyno told me that to help with the itching and burning while waiting for the diflucan to work to stick a tampon in PLAIN yogurt and use it like when you have your period...the (?) acidolpholus (sp?) in the yogurt is supposed to fight with the yeast infection. i am allergic to monistat and over the counter meds so diflucan is the only way to go for me...i've had to take multiple doses too....girl sometimes it itched so bad i felt like sticking a damn scrubby brush up there just to make the itch go away good luck!!!

I've heard this also. I used to get them alot (and when I say ALOT, I mean like once a month), and then I got UTI and I finally found out the cause of BOTH my yeast infections and my UTI....I was wiping the wrong way....I was wiping back to front. This is SOOOOOO bad! If you are wiping this way instead of front to back, change right away. It will take some getting used to, but since I changed, I have not had an infection or a UTI since and it's been about 5 years now.

Don't want to offend anyone, but I had a girlfriend that was prone to yeast infections, turns out her boyfriend was passing it to her. See he had an overgrowth of yeast in his body, especially in his mouth. I think that is called thrush. Anyway, you can imagine how he was passing it back to her. She had to refrain from that particular activity. Poor Girl!!!

I forgot... Douching is not good. It washes out all of the good bacteria. Also makes you prone to all sorts of infections.
