Tornado!
I guess it's tornado season again... My city has had a tornado watch on all afternoon due to unstable air masses and funnel cloud sightings. The sky all of a sudden turned black and sheets of rain were belting down on the building... I just got a text from my friend saying "TORNADO WARNING!" So I checked the weather network and it said tornadoes are imminent or already occuring... funnel clouds have been spotted everywhere and there's a possible touch-down near a town just 20 minutes South of the city... My house is on the south end I'm at work right now in the North end of the city and all I want to do is go home and be with my dog! It was thundering so bad that the walls here at work were shaking! My poor baby is probably so scared!

Lindsey, are you alright? You should have a basement or place of shelter figured out no matter where you are. Does your work have a safe place? It's late enough that the danger has probably cleared. Tornados are really dangerous. I'm from Kansas and I know!!!!!

Seems like everytime we have a storm, there is either a tornado watch or warning. There hasn't been near has many this year so far. Hope it stays that way. Where we live...a tornado took everything on our property. It was before we bought it.

Hey, thanks for your concern! Well on the way home from work yesterday, there was sunshine and blue skies. The radio said there was another tornado watch. Within an hour again the skies turned black and it started pouring again. Luckily no tornado though! One has been confirmed to have touched down somewhere between two small towns just out of the city. Kyle stayed over last night and everytime I heard loud wind I was like "What if that's a tornado???"
In my hometown we had two destructive tornadoes within 2 years. Luckily they didn't actually touch down IN town, but a few farms were destroyed just out of town.

I'm glad everything is ok. I guess I'm an oddball. I was standing in a spot with 4 funnel clouds surrounding me. I could see one on each of the 4 corners in the horizon. I loved it. I want to run to them but I was with my children (I only had 2 at that time) and got them to safety. If I didn't have children, I think I would be a storm chaser.

Lindsey,
Stay safe! I heard about the warnings on the news. Can you put the dog in the basement while you're at work? I think we had one in NYC a while ago. Poor thing had no room to build up any strength, so it didn't last long. I feel for all of you who have such extreme weather (except you Storm Watcher Chandra). We complain here if there's a Nor'easter and a few trees come down. Judy

We actually have a gate up to keep Layla OUT of the basement because there's just too much stuff she could get into (cords... my roommate's fish!) but I think maybe I'll find a way to fence off an area in the basement for her if weather like this continues! It was sweltering hot here last week, and then on Friday night right after I left to go home (and the sun was shining!), there was a huge thunderstorm. My roommate said the sky was never black.. it was just flashing from lightning for hours! A few towns just outside of the city were hit by baseball-sized hail! Windows and roofs and cars were smashed, crops were ruined. Then it was hot again for a few days and then the tornado warnings... now today again it's hot and is supposed to be sweltering hot again by the weekend! I think I'm gonna have to start checking the weather forecast more carefully before I leave for work in the morning.

That's scary! Maybe a playpen down there, or just something to create a safe space.
Prayers are coming, Judy
