Son wants this job!

My son has now finished up with detasseling and deroguing. On his last day of detasseling, he got a call from the new Goodwill Store in town. He was to go for an interview at 6:00 PM on Tuesday. Well the manager called and asked if they could reschedule for 5:30 PM on Wednesday. Rick agreed, no problem. He goes in at 5:30 for the interview and was told the manager left at 4:30 PM.

How in the world can the kids today learn to be responsible workers when the managers can't be responsible to hold an interview?

The Assist. Mgr. gave him a tour of the facilities and where he would spend most of his time, if hired and told him a little bit about the job.

She said that the Mgr. would call him in the next couple of days to either set up another interview or just to talk with him. Well, she didn't call yesterday, so I told my son if she didn't call by 2:00 today that maybe he should go in and see if she was available. Was that the right advice or should he just call in and see if they can set up another interview?

That's too bad that people who are to be respected and set an example of responsibility let others down. I'm sure that you're son is disappointed. I would have him call and if she's there just ask if he could come in now. I don't see a problem with that.

Some of my daughter's cheer group got chewed out for not knowing some cheers and were told to come in an hour early to practice. They all showed up but whoever was suppose to teach them didn't show. They sat out in the heat waiting for her to show.

Well he's worked two days now and seems to like it okay, except when he has to unload the big semi's. They are so hot inside, but he likes everything else, plus when he gets that first pay check, I'm sure he'll REALLY like it...LOL

Thanks Janet! I'm just now making it through all of the posts I missed and this happened to be the last one on the "unread posts" list. And what a nice surprise! Thanks!

I'm glad he's liking the job! Is everything still going well?

Things are going fine. Could be alot better, but it's just something that's hard to get into. It will get better, I have plenty of faith to believe that, but man oh man am I being tested! Thank you so much for asking.

This is my son's 3rd week working at Goodwill and he always has stories to tell when he gets home. I am so happy that he likes it so well.

I'm sorry that things are not going as smoothly as you'd like. You know I am here for you if you ever need to talk (pm, email, phone, whatever you need). You are a lovely, wonderful lady with a lot of strength and courage. I know you'll be able to overcome whatever is bothering you and be even stronger in the end. *hugs*

Janet I know your faith will get you through. I always say God doesn't put more on us than we can stand but He must think I'm a lot stronger than I feel. But as we know this all will pass too. I think we are always a little stronger after every trial.
you are in my thoughts and prayers.
