She Quit!

My daughter finally did it. She quit being a cheerleader. She just couldn't bring herself to get up the other morning and go to cheer. She was dreading it so much that she just decided to quit. I really think that it was a good idea because she has been so stressed out ever since she joined, in fact, the morning she decided to quit it was like a load had been lifted off of her shoulders. My husband even noticed it.

I went in with her to tell the coach but she had already gone home so we talked to the principal and he told my daughter that later they would make a phone call and she could tell her with him nearby. It worked out really well and the coach was pleasant. We're going to try and leave things alone as long as my daugher or I don't start hearing negative things through the grapevine. There's already been too much of that going on and I'm not tolerating any more of it.

I'm glad all that stress is out of your and your daughter's lives now. When something like that just stops being fun, there's no point in continuing. It was brave of her to quit though! She knows what she shouldn't have to be subjected to, and she was smart enough to take herself out of it!

I hope things are more relaxed for your dd now Diana. It stinks when you're forced to do something that makes you that miserable.

I hope there are no negative repercussions, but if there are, you're wise to nip them in the bud.

I'm glad the stress has stopped for you, and your daughter Diana, it's definatly no fun to have to do things, and have to listen to things that makes anyone uptight.
There will be other things, or maybe another team for her to join. For now, enjoy some "time out"

Diana, I am so happy for her! Jaci must be so much less stressed now. She didn't need the extra pressure and pain that cheer coach put her through, that's for sure. This is a time in her life she'll won't to look back on fondly, not with regret. I hope she's able to find another activity or club that will treat her right!

Thanks everyone for your replies. It's been hard dealing with her surgery and all of this, plus volleyball. She still isn't up to par since having her surgery but she's getting there. Now she can concentrate on volleyball which is what she really loves. She's a really sweet girl and I know that she won't have any hard feelings with anyone over everything.

Diana, I haven't been reading every post, I guess she was having problems at cheerleading. If she was not happy she has made the right descion. There is enough stress in life that is important to deal with. Hey Jaci must have her mom''s disposition which is sweet. So she will be ok...

I felt so bad that Jaci was having such a rough time with cheerleading when it should be a wonderful, joyful experience. It's good that she was able to walk away from it and feel the load lift.

I I wouldn't tolerate any negativity coming from it either. Always best to 'nip' these things before they get started.

Good for her! That shows strength and not giving in to peer pressure. She's been through enough.

Life is too short to spend time doing things that make you unhappy. Good for her!
