Are the Moms staying or dropping them off? Make them stay - 8 one year olds are too much to handle.

My daughter used to work for Gymboree and ran lot's of parties.

You can put on music, sit them in a circle on their Mommy's laps. Make the Moms help. One year olds need constant supervision and help to play a game. Take a big ball and have them pass it around while you all sing.

You can blow bubbles and have them run around a little bit trying to catch them.

Get them to dance to a song. That would be a cute video.

You can do "The Wheels on the Bus." I'm sure there are lots of those games.

Feed them finger food, like pretzels, cut up fruit really small, tiny chunks of pb & j sandwiches.

Give the Moms coffee or tea and fat free muffins or something.

You have to have a cake, sing, make the birthday fuss, take tons of pictures, and by then half the babies will be ready for their naps in their own houses.

Have a ball and congratulations on your baby being one year old!

I don't remember too many games for kids that age. Maybe you can do a search. I use to do that for school party games. There are a million ideas out there.

We didn't have a party with kids when my kids were really little. We had grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles.

Judy's ideas are good ones!! We had parties like Diana mentions until our girls were about pre-K. Then we started the children's parties. For gift bags for this age, I'd just get some very small stuffed animals and maybe an appropriate snack like animal crackers or something.

Hope this helps!!!

...and cousins! Lots of cousins. I have 8 mm reels of film of some of our birthday parties. The grown-ups drank and ate peanuts. They would put on some music
and the kids would dance; what we now call fondly "the jump-around."

Back then, it was "children should be seen and not heard." We loved it. When a grown-up talked to you, it was interfering with play time, and always carried the danger that you could get in trouble for something.
