Elaine,
Gosh, I'm so sorry you've had such bad experiences with ebay! I used to be "ebay crazy" but haven't ordered anything off there in a few years. Here's hoping the powers that be get to the bottom of this for you! Suzi

That really sux. We had an ebay scare just last week. My hubby ordered some boots and then the seller emailed him and told him that he could not access his paypal and wanted my hubby to send him a check. The paypal payment had already gone through, so hubby told him NO and to send the boots. Hubby never received another email from him despite the 10 emails hubby sent to him. We thought we weren't getting the boots. But then randomly, they arrived in the mail last week. I guess the guy just wasnt checking his email. BUt I was SOOOO mad there for awhile.
You know, ebay is a legally binding contract. If you wanted to, you could take the seller to small claims court. |

Elaine, if you paid by credit card couldn't you put it in dispute w/ the credit card co.? I even paid for something w/ a debit card once (not on e-bay) & had a problem, so I called the bank & they put a stop payment on the transaction. It might be worth a phone call, at this point you have nothing to lose.

I'm going to agree with the above poster....
If you paid via Paypal or used a credit card (or better yet, used Paypal to pay with a credit card), contact both Paypal and the card issuer. They'll step in and help take care of the situation. ETA: Sorry you've had bad luck. I've purchased hundreds of things from eBay and have only been ripped off once... And it was a $4 item, so it wouldn't have been worth the time to argue about it! |

Elaine yes you must always check their feedback and if you see they have one to many negatives dont' buy from them. Did you also file a complaint with ebay? along with paypal, yes you have to put in the disputes you should get back your money, once they investiagate the seller..You are usually protected with ebay and paypal. Like the previous posts mention call your credit card company and explain the fruad that happen.. Good luck keep us posted... Gina |

Attention Ebay Users
******* WARNING FOR ALL EBAY USERS *********
I saw a case relevant to this topic on a Spanish court show, similar to Judge Judy. A lady was suing her ex-boyfriend for $2500 because she gave him this amount in cash to purchase a computer on Ebay. The man found a seller that was selling 2 computers for $2500. When the boyfriend completed the transaction, the seller insisted that the man send him the money in form of a Western Union money order because they stated they did not accept Paypal or any other Ebay endorsed payment system. The poor guy sent the money order and never received the computers. The lady dumped him and was suing him for the money. The guy was sincere and presented the judge with proof of all the correspondence between him and the sellers. He even contacted Ebay and they said there was nothing they could do for him because they DO NOT guarentee any payments that are made outside of Paypal or any other Ebay endorsed payment system In the end, the judge's decision was that the boyfriend pay the lady half of the money because he used poor judgement but she said the lady was equally as responsible as well and was not entitled to all of her money back because she used poor judgement as well. The judge stressed to viewers that anyone buying stuff off of Ebay use caution and not send money in any way that forfeits your protection. If the seller doesn't take paypal, don't pay for the item, Ebay won't back you up if you lose your money. |

I have bought quite a bit through ebay and have never had a problem. I'm so sorry that you have.
Be sure to ALWAYS check the feedback scores and how long they have been doing business on ebay. Take it as a life lesson and follow through with all the advice given above. I'm sure you will win out when it's over and done with..

You have 30 days to file a complaint with eBay and 90 (I believe) with paypal. I had sold 2 outfits ($65) to a lady in Canada. Since it was out of country, I could not get a tracking number. Well, customs held up the outfits and she filed a complaint against me. Paypal froze my account and since I could not provide tracking numbers, I was forced to repay her. The outfits never got returned to me so I know that she got them, got her money back and I had was out for shipping her the outfits. Since then, I refuse to ship out of the country. Another instance, I got The Notebook on DVD. It played just fine on our DVD player but mid movie, it was messed up. Their lips would move but sound had about a 2 second delay so it reminded me of those old Chinese Kung Foo movies. I sent the item back and guess how much I was refunded????? A $17 movie and I was refunded $0.17. I was FURIOUS and unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about it.

I've only bought a couple of things off ebay. I'm just so leary of the whole process! I mean, what in the world is making these people live up to their end of the deal besides their conscience?!
