My Surgeon had Surgery!!!
I finally got around to calling today to make an appointment with a surgeon I was supposed to see last January about my carpal tunnel. It's been getting worse lately, and guess it's time to do something. Well, seems the surgeon is out of the office until early September. I said, so he decided to take an extended vacation, and they said, no he had surgery!! Guess none of us are exempt from needing care.

Are you going to wait for him or see if you can schedule it with someone else?

Marilyn , doctors are human to.. sometimes we think that they are immune to sickness and of course its not true.
Like Janet mentioned if it is bothering you see about going to another specialist. Don't wait if you are in pain. As far as my carpal tunnel, lately in the morning it wakes me up from numbness every so often. No pain like before knock wood...lol I have been taking the vitamin B-6 like my dr. suggested and I wear the splint when it feels numb for a week or two to bed.. Have you tried vitamin B-6 it is suppose to ease the nerve endings. Give it a try, cant' hurt. Good luck and I hope that your feeling better soon. |

By chance have you ever tried wearing magnetic jewelry?
I have been having problems with my left knee for quite awhile now. I think I am getting arthritis in it. BUT... a few weeks ago bought a magnetic ankle bracelet and I have to say my knee is 100% better!! No pain!!! I love it! Only problem is it makes my ankle swell up. Still no pain though! I took it off a few days ago to see if swelling would go down and pain came back. So back on tomorrow morning. Yes the swelling did go down, but I would rather have that then the pain. Try it.. you might be surprised. |

Haven't tried B6, this is the first I've heard of this. Might try it while I'm waiting to see the Dr. I do wear magnetic jewelry sometimes. Can't say that I've seen a difference from the magnets. I also wear wrist splints to bed every night, but it's getting to where they aren't doing much good. My wrists hurt almost all the time now, and the pain can go up to my shoulders. Fingers numb, the works.
I will wait to see this surgeon. He's the best hand surgeon locally and is considered to be very good. If he does orthoscopic surgery for carpal tunnel, I'll probably have him do it. If not, I will go to someone in Houston. I've heard there are some there who do it as an outpatient. That's what I want, minimally invasive and back to work the next day with bandaids, not big dressings and no big incisions to heal and no general anesthesia. This surgeon did hand surgery on our daughter Karen when she was little. She had trigger thumb. Of course he did that under general because she was only about 5 years old. I've had surgery so many times, with general anesthesia. At least 9 times if I'm not leaving anything out. It's really not a big deal any more, but would rather avoid it if possible.
