Florida Trip

We had a nice time. We got there Wednesday about 3:30 and were out the airport in the rental car about 4:00. We stopped on the way out to the resort and ate at the Island Cow - - we'd eaten there the last time we were here. We had fried oysters. MMMMM!

Our room was really nice. I'm sure it was bigger than my first apartment!!! It had a living room, full kitchen and separate bedroom and TWO FULL BATHROOMS!!! The bedroom had a king sized bed and a full bathroom and dressing area! Since this was a conference and there were about 500 of us there, the rates were probably half the regular rate. I could NEVER afford a room like this is not at a special rate. Plus, my school paid for it since I was attending the conference for the school.

On Thursday, I spent all day at the conference. I got breakfast for Gary at Starbucks, an apple fritter, milk and orange juice. After I was finished, we went out and had an early dinner. I'll post picture of my dinner - fish stew. Very good!

On Friday, the conference was over at noon, so we headed out to go to the beach - just walked a little bit - and shopping. We had a fun day and ate pizza for lunch. We had fun in the little local shops, but only bought a tee shirt for Abigail and a stuffed turtle and necklace/bracelet for Emma. Oh, Gary bought a pretty turtle mouse pad and a hat.

We came back to the room and crashed for a couple of hours and then went out after dark to a new little BBQ/hamburger joint nearby and had a light dinner. The moon was gorgeous in the palm trees, but the picture is not very good since I didn't have my good camera.

We got up this morning and headed back in to Ft. Meyers to the airport. We ate breakfast at the Island Cow again and then drove to the airport, returned the rental car and then strolled the airport shops.

We flew from Ft. Meyers to Orlando and then Orlando to Austin. You all remember what is in Orlando, don't you????? DISNEY WORLD! There were GOBS of kiddos, on our flight from Orlando to Austin - it was pretty noisy, I tell ya!!!

OK, here's some pictures!

1. My fish stew from dinner on Thursday
2. It was really pretty, it had clams, mussles, shrimp, scallops, grouper, and...........
3. Baby octopus!!!
4. LOTS OF THEM!

It was good though!

a few more

1. Our hotel living room
2. the view out the patio doors in the room. You can see the table and chairs that were out on the screened in patio. Gary sat out there and watched the boats come and go and also watched the fish jump. He wished he had his fishing rod! It looks like a gull is flying by but actually it was etched on the sliding glass doors.

Welcome home! I'm glad you had a better time than you thought, and that Gary did well! I love seafood, but that fish stew looks disgusting, lol!!

I agree with Betsi!! That stew with all those things looked awful. I'm glad you liked it though. I think I would have to eat it blind folded with a clothes pin on my noise.

Your room sounds wonderful, I would love to spend a few days in a place like that...LOL. Glad you're back safe and sound.
