Good Day?

I am so excited that my younger brother is coming soon to take Mom for the day. He was going to take her to church, but for some reason changed his mind (probably afraid the roof would fall in on him) anyway.....he did say something about taking her to her house for awhile and then who knows what.

She has been a bit of a bear here lately. Very impatient, finally showing her true colors of wanting things done her way, when she wants them. So Brad coming to get her is a real treat.....for me!!!

My other brother's wife will be taking her to her Dr. appt on Monday for hip pain. I did four days of Dr. appts last week so finally someone is stepping up.

Today...I'm heading to Lafayette to get me an IPad...I'm so excited. Only bad thing...will have to listen to Mom tell me what a waste and make me feel guilty for charging it. TOO BAD....lolol

Oh Janet! I'm so happy to hear that your brother is helping out with your Mom today! It will give you a much needed break! Have a wonderful day! Happy "Ipad" shopping! Don't let anyone make you feel guilty about buying it! You work hard and you are a wonderful person! There comes a time once in a while when we need to do something special for ourselves! You deserve it!

Janet, I'm so glad you are getting a day off. In caregiving terms it is called respite. All caregivers need respite, it is extremely important to prevent burnout. Your mom is staring to settle in and be more like herself. You'll need to work to keep the boundaries and keep your sanity. I hope your family continues to help you out.

I'm glad that your other family members are finally helping you out with your Mother!! You do need to have breaks away from her so you can have a breather!!! Make sure you use that time to relax and de-stress for awhile when she's gone!!!

I'm curious to hear how you like your i-pad!!! They sound interesting!!!

Yesterday was really a great day. My brother forgot to change his clock ahead (or so he says) so he was later getting here than we expected. He was going to come around 9 AM but didn't make it until about 10:30.

After they left I did a few odds and ends around here and straightened up the bedroom a bit...didn't realize my Mom is such a slob...lol.

Then.....I went to Lafayette to Best Buy and ................................they were out of the IPad 2. BUT...................I did put money down and I'm 2nd in line for the model I chose. It's the wi-fi, 3G, 16 GB trimmed in black. They have one trimmed in an off-white now, but I put the two side by side and I liked the black soooo much better. I asked the guy if he really thought I would need the 32 GB over the 16GB and he said no....for my needs...the 16 would most likely be more than I would need and if I decided I didn't want something on it...just delete it. So I bought the 16 GB. plus it's $100 cheaper than the 32....lol. It won't be here for a week or two, but he also said it could be sooner than that. I'm so excited I can' stand it. The guy was so nice and showed me so much about the IPad 2. I sure hope it comes in sooner than expected.

After I got home....my brother called and said Mom was tired and wanted to come back so I said bring her home....I was here. We both had a good day, but Mom is starting to feel like she is a burden. I told her the only time she is a burden is when she's not flexible. That she needs to try and not want things her way all the time....because it wasn't going to happen.

This morning.....the time change really got me. I was soooo tired driving the bus so I'm going to have to get more sleep.

Whoo Hooo Janet, sounds like you had a good day! I can't wait to see the new iPad. I won't be getting one, the one I have will have to do for me. But it will be interesting to see what new features it has.

Your mom may be starting a campaign to go home with the " I'm a burden" mantra. As hard as it is for both of you, I don't think she should be home alone. I think she would be right back in the hospital.

I'm so excited to be getting the IPad 2, but it sure is hard waiting for it and it's only been 24 hours.....lol.

Mom does say she wants to go home so I'm wise to that. We talked a little today about it. She's doing so well right now and I told her I was worried she would start backsliding if left on her own. She did say she didn't want to go right now....I don't really think she wants to be alone. We'll see.

Anyway.....I want my IPad2 !!!!!!

Can't believe I've had another great day!!!! Today my son and I had some banking to do so I asked Mom if she wanted to go and sit in the car or stay here, she said she'd like to go home. Since she had a Drs. appt. at 5:30 PM my sister-in-law was going to pick her up at 4:30 and take her to her appt. in Lafayette. It made it easier so she wouldn't have to drive all the way out here from town. They just live about 4 or 5 blocks from Mom.

So my son and dropped Mom off at her house, went to a great little diner and had breakfast with my older brother and then did our banking and then to Wal Mart. I was about to get on the computer a bit and then Ricky had to go to work so I had some ALONE time in my own house....I loved it!!!

Thank you God for this time....it is so appreciated.

LOL! Janet, I know exactly what you mean. My mom lived with us for 6 years and those times alone in your own home are so rare and so wonderful!
