Sharing wedding plans!

Please post your own wedding pictures, or for those of you who have daughters with weddings coming up, share them here. It is an exciting time and I'd love to see the different themes :D

Our wedding is going to have the colors that remind you of glamorous old Hollywood. Blacks, Ivory, deep charcoal greys with pin strips... Lavender and chrome accents. I will carry a bouquet of Calla lilies, and my two brides maids will carry either hydrangeas or orchids.

Here is my ten dollar eBay purchased wedding dress lol It is a vintage form fitted pencil skirt type that comes off the shoulders.
These are some close ups of the detail in the bodice in much better lighting than me trying the dress on in the thumbnails attached.

Our guest book photo mat that everyone will sign, then we will frame
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...okPhotoMat.jpg

And here is the start to our wedding album scrapbook
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...mScrapbook.jpg

We will be married at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, and honeymooning at Walt Disney World :)

Here is the veil, it needs some fluffing, and I will wear it probably a bit higher towards the top of my head with a long wavy false pony tail, since my hair takes forever to grow!

WileyBlaze 03-01-2008 09:34 AM

Hey Pope, I just love every thing you have picked out. It is so you!!

I will try to share what I have so far with Tonya's wedding.

:thumbdwn: I had a whole bunch of pictures in the edit but took to long to post so I lost them all.

OK here I go again!

Becky, it is so much fun to post about the weddings. I sure enjoy everything you have shared.

I got married 5.5 years ago. I would call it very simple & traditional. My brides maid wore simple 2 piece teal dresses & the groomsmen wore grey 3 piece tuxes, with european ties. The only thing i really cared about was the music & it was good. I married in the same church, my parents & grandparents did.

these are the only pictures I have on my computer of if. We honeymooned in hawaii.

pope1982 03-01-2008 05:36 PM

Thank you Tammy! Keep them coming ;) Your daughter is going to be one stunning bride! Is she having a large wedding?

Pony, I absolutely love the first picture. It is so beautiful. That effect makes it looks vintage and a bit dark  Looks like you got your moneys worth in a photographer!

That is my next step once I secure location, and priest. Something I refuse to skimp or settle on too lol I already have a few sites of locals favorited in my wedding folder, we'll see.

pope1982 03-01-2008 05:39 PM

Though I love my piercings, I think for the actual ceremony and some pictures I won't have them in.

I love everything this lady is wearing on her head and neck lol

Janet 03-01-2008 07:40 PM

All the pictures are just lovely. Back when I married 30 some years ago, there sure wasn't the choice of dresses you all have now and the photography is out of this world now...just wonderful.

catlover 03-01-2008 08:38 PM

Pope, you NEVER should have said you're honeymooning at Disney World! When Gwen reads this, you KNOW she'll be making plans to join you, lol!

I didn't know they did weddings at the National Aquarium-that sounds really neat.

I love your gown, and it sounds like the flowers will be beautiful. I'm so excited for you! :love-hug1:

pope1982 03-01-2008 08:58 PM

lol Bev *does the army crawl across the floor looking around nervously*

Actually, the lady who runs these events is kind of excited and shocked that I asked her for permission like my priest instructed me to before I went ahead with my plan making.
She said she hasn't been able to get a priest out there to actually marry someone. I am so pleased with my priest (what I've gotten to know of him through emails...) and I hope I still am after this first real life introduction! I'm not horribly worried about that though :)

Is it customary to give gifts beyond the parents and the wedding party?

catlover 03-01-2008 09:08 PM

Can't help you there. Not only did we NOT have a traditional wedding ceremony...we kind of didn't have a ceremony at all! We ran off to Jamaica to get married!

But I would think parents and wedding party would be all. Any ideas what you're going to get for them yet?

pope1982 03-01-2008 09:35 PM

Catlover, we are going to have a modest wedding. Probably about 100 people MAX. I have a huge family back home, but some are older and can't make the trip down anymore. One of my normal aunts just had a second hip replacement.

So far, I got my Mother in Law this for her son to fill out and give to her on our wedding day. She has no idea.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=018
I thought about giving her something from me too, since she kind of gains me as a kid lol (and she will need this after she gets that book...)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mother-of-the-Gr...QQcmdZViewItem

Something like this for the best man?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=005

Something like this for my dad
http://cgi.ebay.com/WEDDING-HANDKERC...QQcmdZViewItem

Still working on a few more of the parents and the perfect gifts for the bridesmaids (both of our sisters) as well as the other groomsman. I'll worry about tying all that up before I worry about getting my falsie chicken cutlet inserts :lol2:

catlover 03-01-2008 09:45 PM

Good choices, all of them, but I LOVE the one for your dad!!! I'm sure that will bring a tear to his eye.

yorkiemalt 03-02-2008 06:30 AM

I love this thread! :D

Becky your dress is beautiful and the veil is perfect! And I agree with CL...Gwen will be joining you on your honeymoon! :sidesplit:

Wiley...your daughter's dress is also beautiful. I love the cake! :p

Pope, your dress is really lovely!!!! You got quite a buy on it!!! That's great! The gifts that you have picked out I really like, expecially the hankies!!! Very sentimental! I can't wait to see other details that you've picked out.

Ponyup 03-02-2008 01:20 PM

Thanks guys. Our photographer was actual a family friend. He had a little too much fun with colors & such on the pictures....some turned out really well & some not so well. The first picture is my hubby & i's favorite. We're both making the same weird face & it was in no way planned, we have no idea what we were supposed to be doing. My friends call it the zoolander shot....it's like our blue steal look.

MollyDolly 03-03-2008 03:50 AM

I'm so excited for you Becky! The dress, and the veil are beautiful!!

judy 03-03-2008 08:03 AM

All of everything is beautiful! Keep posting - even the chicken cutlets! This is so exciting!

Marilyn.....you might want to post some pictures here!

My daughter's wedding is not on discs and mine certainly weren't!

silkypup 03-03-2008 06:21 PM

pope i love the dress and the theme you are doing, sounds beautiful! i can't wait to see more pictures of everything you get!

CoyoteQueen 03-03-2008 06:37 PM

Becky, definately DONT skimp on the photographer!!! Trust me on this one! My first wedding, the pictures sucked all of them. We didnt have a single nice one. This time around we skipped the whole wedding, got married by the jp and then had a photo session. Those pics are really super good! I love them. It cost me about 700.00 total, and I dont regret a penny.

catlover 03-03-2008 06:41 PM

You know, it's been a long time since I went to the aquarium....let me check my calendar! :33:

Gwen 03-03-2008 08:04 PM

Hey! I already knew about her honeymoon, and I think I displayed great restraint! :tongue004: :yelrotflmao:

I knew there was a reason I always liked you so much Becky! Disneyworld for a honeymoon would totally rock!

I love all these pictures! Man, you guys are all so lucky. We couldn't afford a photographer at our wedding, we had a family friend take pics. There's some neat shots, but like the black and white with the color bouquet and whatnot...I would have loved to have had something like that! :)

HeatherMaran 03-03-2008 08:17 PM

Becky! Your dress is beautiful! What a steal! I would have loved to wear my Grandma's dress, but I'll never be skinny enough, and well, you know how family gets when a loved one dies? My aunt stole it.

I love the theme. Your wedding is gonna be beautiful!

Wiley, your daughter is lucky to have you! Her wedding will be beautiful and the best day of her life.

I am not married, but my little baby bro got married a little over a year ago. They did a masquerade theme. The ceremony was actually at a church marriage retreat in San Diego on a dinner cruise ship, so only immediate family was allowed. Then they did the masquerade reception at a friends house. It was very low budget, but turned out amazing. Here are some pics:

The dress:

My brother and my mom:

My brothers (they were each others' best men) - this is toast from lil bro to big bro, long story, but it was cute:

And the cake:

pope1982 03-03-2008 08:48 PM

Awwww, Heathers baby brother!Thank you for the pictures Heather, very unique.
The picture of them in front of the cloudy evening sky looking at each other is awesome!

So how do you get along with the sister in law?

pope1982 03-03-2008 08:54 PM

Bring it on Bev, I live in Baltimore, I can handle it lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../bmoreduck.jpg

If I had the money, I would order gag tshirts from harmcity for the out of towners that say "innocent bystander" & "unarmed citizen".

HeatherMaran 03-03-2008 09:30 PM

Ok, so I just wrote about a six page rant about my SIL because I am annoyed with her right now, but erased it because this is a happy thread and I don't want to hijack. I really do love my lil SIL. She has a really good heart, she's sweet and funny. And my brother loves her. I do worry about them sometimes because, maturity wise, I don't think they were ready to get married. I worry because they disagree on some big things, like kids. Well, they both said they don't want any, but then she started bugging him for a baby after the wedding. She drove up here with me when I moved to Seattle to help drive and get me settled in, and I am very appreciative of that. She is a really wonderful person, but my biggest complaint about her is that she is a big time flake. That's always been my complaint, and that is why I am annoyed with her right now, as she has flaked on helping me with planning my other SIL's baby shower. So I am now stuck planning a shower in California FROM Washington. Good thing we didn't go with all her elaborate and expensive ideas, huh?

But, they have surprised me quite a bit. I thought they would have problems early on, but they've done really well. My brother's only complaints are that she does NOT clean and she spends all of his money! Her complaints are that he likes his alone time (something I tried to tell her before they were married and she shot me down). But, overall, they do well. They are learning to compromise...she is finding hobbies, he makes time for her, they do a budget so she can spend $XX amount. The cleaning is still an issue, but she apparently does better now that they have their own place. So, I am happy for them and wish them the best!

So I take it she doesn't work. This wouldn't fly in my house. If you don't work outside the home you are responsible for all the work with in the home. Plus I didn't work when I first got married & i didn't feel right spending money because I didn't earn it, but that's just me. Her dress was gorgeous by the way.

Heather absolutely beautiful dress and cake. I love how different it is. My husband and I have been married for four years, but we didn't have a real wedding. It was my second wedding and my sister was planning hers so I wanted the spotlight to be on her. We do plan/hope to have a renewing of our vows for our 10th anniversary and I will try to find pics to post....I have to remember how to post pics. I have the dress and several other things picked out.

She does work. They both work full time. She's a pastoral assistant right next door to their place. He's contracted with homeland security. So, okay, they should share in the housework, but she won't do dishes or anything. She lived with my parents before they got married, free of rent. After they got married, she moved in with my brother, and then they moved back in with my parents for a while. My mom works a stressful job and my dad has medical issues. They would clean the entire kitchen, and then Jamie would come down and make herself something to eat and just leave the dishes in the sink. She NEVER washed a dish, not even when living there for free. I don't think my brother minds sharing in the housework, but she just doesn't help at all. When they were at my parents, my brother did their laundry 90% of the time, when they cooked, it was him cooking, he did the cleanup. My parents have a housekeeper every other week, so they didn't even have to clean the bathroom or vacuum. Now that they have moved, all my mom wants is for them to come wipe out the drawers in the bathroom, as she cleaned that bathroom really good before they moved in. They moved out Jan 1, and it still hasn't been done, and they have a bunch of crap there still. So yeah, she's just lazy. She acts just like her mom!

Sorry to open a can of worms. I know how frustrating it can be.....my sister in law doesn't exactly rub me the right way either. I agree that's very inconsiderate to not pick up after ones' self while staying at someone else's home. Maybe she will mature, I did. Marriage was really good for me.
