I interviewed for an ICU position...
I interviewed for an ICU position as a new graduated (RN). I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do after graduation but this particular unit jumped out at me. They are going to let me know on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hi Kimberly! My first job was in the Recovery Room, but I only worked there a couple of months and was asked to transfer to ICU. I loved it - it was a great job!!!
Good luck!

I was offered the position but I wouldn't be starting until summer and sadly I can't wait that long, so time to fill out more apps. Its nice to know I was wanted though. Hehe...

That's great that it was offered to you. With the economy the way it is, I hope it hasn't affected the nursing profession has it has others. It might have been good to accept it that way you know you have a position for the summer. I don't know anything about nursing positions, but I hope you find what you're looking for.

I was thinking the same thing but honestly I can't wait that long. You do not have to sign a contract and recently this same hospital has actually offered jobs to a person and then retracted the bid once they were ready to sign (not a contract to stay on but to accept the job). I can't take a chance of stay where I am (I am not from this area) for a few more months and then nothing happening. I called them back and talk with them, I'm definately not burning any bridges. So we will see...
I know many of the NA and other positions are on a hiring freeze, but I am not sure who else. |

Yes, hospitals are cutting back, just like everyone else. It usually does not affect nursing positions, but what is happening is that there is not as much turnover. Nurses are not quitting their jobs, or changing jobs right now, so there are fewer openings than usual. All that usually means is that a new nurse might not get the job she wants, or the hospital she wants, or the shift she wants. Nurses usually never have to look long for a job, but they may have to take a job that they didn't necessarily think they wanted or they might have to relocate.
Good luck Kimberly!!!

Hope you find something soon that will get you by.
Everything is cutting back, my husband talked to the mail carrier yesterday and he said there was hardly any mail and they probably would be laying off. I noticed recently that we hardly get any mail, just the bills.
