Throat Spasms
Wouldn't you know it , if something weird happens I am always the one to get it.. Lately this has been happening when I go to bed and lay down right before I am drifting off into sleep. I get this feeling like someone is choking me, naa my husband is not even in room. lol anyway, I jump up but I am breathing, and then I calm down and it goes away. Once I fall asleep I am fine. I had it in the past and always chalked it up to aniexty. But now I get it nightly.
So I went to the dr yesterday and told her and she said what is happening is that the muscle in my throat goes into a spasm , she herself had it once so she knows the feeling. She asked me am I eating late or anxious. I had been drinking tea and eating cookies at night.. and right before I go to bed I drink some pomogranite juice . She said don't have anything after dinner , if I am to have tea have it no later tha 7. Maybe its the acid from the tea and what not. She also told me to elevate my head with extra pillows. So I am going to try this, she said if it does not go away in a few weeks, to come back and she will send me to ENT..Don't want to have my throat and stomach scoped. Has anyone ever experienced this? I am getting nervous now. I hate the feeling , I hope it goes away as quickly as it came on. Like I mentioned before I occassionly got it but it disappeared... I looked it up through google and I see that its not that uncommon. Never a dull moment. |

Bless your heart! That sounds serious. Don't wait too long before you go to the ENT if it doesn't go away. I imagine it's very scary to feel like you are being choked in your sleep

I completely understand Gina. Weird things happen to my husband Gary too - if it can be strange, he'll get it. It is very disconcerting!!! I think I would visit an ENT just to get some more information about the condition.
