Some people know their whole life what their passion and career will be.
Others at such a young age as you are, must take more time. Nothing wrong with that at all. Just find what you are truly interested in....when you're working at something you love....it's no longer work.

In December I graduate from college, and I'll have been in post-secondary for 4.5 years.... and now I think I want to do something else But I don't mind what I do, and I'll work at it until I get money again. Whenever I have doubts I think of what my high school homeroom teacher said... "Nothing is ever set in stone." The same year I graduated high school was the same year he quit teaching... he returned to university to become a dentist.

Find your interests and lead that direction. If you enjoy being around people, find a career that involves tasks/responsibilities with others. If you'd rather be more independant and not surrounded by others, then head that way.
There are many many jobs out there that fit individual needs. Don't give up, I am sure your passion for some certain area will lead you into the right direction. Good Luck!!

I'm of the mind that most of us will work in several different fields before we're through, so if something interests you, give it a try and if you don't like it, try something else!
I'm 51 yrs old and have worked at a wide variety of jobs including realtor, insurance sales, EMT, medicare claims processor, relief manager in an alcohol/drug rehab, jailor, assembly line worker, cheese factory worker, nurses aide, home health aide, and so on. NOW I'm just starting work as a bank teller supervisor. My point is, that if you keep your mind open and look around, you can test the waters and by trial and error, find something you enjoy. I would like to think I'll retire out of the bank I work at, but considering that's about 15 years away, I sure can't guarantee it! No way did I expect to end up doing most of the jobs I've had until the opportunity presented itself and I just decided to give it a try. Don't think of looking for your "forever job" just yet; rather look for what suits your needs now and deal with the future when it arrives.

thanks!
that's really good advice at school they should tell you this ever since you're like 10 years old now they just force into your head that you need to know what you do already, then I told my teacher that she was a nut job and that I was too young to decide ha ha but now that I'm flitting off to college soon idk what to do! I can't believe you've been able to do all those things! |

As others have stated, follow you heart and leave things "open" to try new things. I initially entered college (many years ago) in the nursing field. After my first year of college (and taking basics before classes specifically for nursing), I decided that wasn't really what I wanted to do....so.....I went back the next year and selected Medical Records and after the first semester, still wasn't sure so I did not return to school (still kicking myself over that!!). I got a job as a customer service rep with an insurance company, moved to the greater New Orleans area after marriage and stayed in the insurance field there - worked myself up (in another company) to assistant district manager and held my agent's license to sell insurance. We moved back to where we live now and management jobs were hard to find in a smaller town so I took what I could get. I was back at a customer service rep for an insurance company but after having done the management position, I just couldn't "fit in" again at that level so I left and went to work as bookkeeper of a parts supply place here in town. After 2 years, it changed ownership and the new owner was cutting staff and he figured his accountant could do what I did so I was let go. It was like it was meant to be as 2 days later, I applied for a job, of all places, in the medical records department at our local hospital and got the job!! I worked hard, moved up in that department, transferred to another department and was offered a position heading an area they were starting up. And now I work for another hospital in our town as the coding supervisor - guess I should have stuck with that medical records decision way back when I was in college!!!
Best of luck to you! You will "know" when the right career choice for you comes along. My 16 year old has no clue what he wants to study in college while my 13 year old has been saying for 2 years he wants to be a forensic pathologist - and so far, he's not waivered from that decision.
