What a voice!
Last night was Mackenzie's school's Cafe Night. It's a showcase for whoever wants to sing, dance, the bands, chorus, etc. As in most schools, there are quite a few very talented students, and some not so talented students, who are hurrayed and clapped for anyway. They are so cute when they get up there!
There was a group of 4th grade girls singing. One of them turned to her partner and shushed her. She wanted her solo! It was adorable. There was also a group of 5th grade boys who did "We Will Rock You." The sang, danced, played air guitar, and were having such a good time. Then there was Katherine who giggled almost every time it was her turn to sing in her group. I love kids!!! Mackenzie did a solo, and brought the house down! She has such an amazing voice! Jessie is a singer, and Mackenzie takes after her. I was so proud, and so pleased for Jessie. I said to her "Now you know how I used to feel when you were on stage." She smiled and agreed. Mackenzie messed up a couple of words, and that's all she focused on! Teenagers are so sensitive! People kept coming up to her and praising her, and all she kept saying was, "but I messed up!" I think she really knew how good she was though. She told me that all of these people coming over to her were "so annoying."

Aww Judy I bet you were so proud! I used to love to go to all that stuff with my kids. Now the grandkids live over 2 hours away so it's hard to go to much of it. But I do love to when I can. Glad you had fun and I bet Mackenzie was awesome

Now you're gonna have to tape Mackenzie so we can hear her sing too. I, too, love children's programs whether it's at church or at school and you're right...some are soooo talented.

Oh Judy, what a wonderful moment for you and Jessie!!! I bet that both of you were about to burst your buttons!!! I know in Jaci's queen talent that she messed up. You can barely tell it in the video but she said that it felt like a long time for her so the mistake felt huge. I'm sure that's how Mackenzie felt. We are always so much more critical of ourselves than others are. You're going to have to record something for us so we can hear her!! How wonderful!!! Aren't grandchildren amazing?!!!

Oh I would love to hear her sing! How cool! My stepsister can sing like a bird, and I can't carry a tune!
You are so fortunate to be so close to her and get to hear her sing! I know you are so proud of her!

Maybe I can get her video on here somehow.
I can't sing either, Gayle. Does your granddaughter perform anywhere?

No, it's not my granddaughter - it's my step sister who can sing. She doesn't perform anywhere, unless you count weddings and funerals - she lives in a VERY small town and is often asked to sing (or play piano) at weddings and funerals.

The school has a Rock Band, and the teacher in charge is eying her to take over as the singer when Jillian, the rock singer now, graduates in June. She is only in 7th grade, but they could not believe her voice. It's a big commitment, but Jessie is thinking about it for Mackenzie. We'll see what happens.
Blues Clues Happy Birthday is very cool Gina! Does your daughter still sing?

The field of entertainment is so hard to succeed in Gina! Jessie also has a beautiful voice, and sang and acted in school, for the Heights Players, the Regina Opera, etc. She realized early on though, that she wanted to have a family, and that being on stage would mean being on the road too much. She also realized that she didn't deal well with rejection. She went into managing actors and then became a talent agent. She also taught music for a while. She stayed on the sidelines, and now taught Mackenzie to sing.
You have to know who you are. I'm sure your daughter is much happier in medicine. It would be nice to sing though! I'm sure she appreciates her gift.
