My sister got a dog for her family, her name is Zoey.
We had a basset named Gismo growing up
I've never seen a long haired, she is so soft.

Is there anything cuter than children with their dogs?
They surprised the kids and when my nephew saw his father holding a dog leash attached to a dog he exclaimed "my daddy has a dog?!"
He also went on to tell his neighbor as soon as he came outside that he now had a really cool dog.

Becky....your decorations are so pretty. I haven't got ours up yet. I was going to do it today, but that's another post...

I love Bassetts, but I've never seen one with long hair either. Is it full blooded? I just love the ears on them. The kids look thrilled to have a doggie!! I hope they become best friends...it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen...kids and their dog.

I don't know if she is full blooded? I do know her coat is so soft, our basset growing up had a really short, harsh coat and from what I read about the breed standard a longer coat is a disqualification so her coat is definitely a mystery!

A woman with 5 kids rehomed her because she felt her kids were neglectful of attention towards her. They had two bassets so she became over whelmed with the dogs ontop of the kids. I really hope my sister makes this work, other wise the kids will be broken hearted and I will be disappointed in her.
So many young families get dogs and bail on the responsibility, it's so sad for these dogs that keep getting passed along.
