Wake Up Call!!!

I woke up my usual time this morning 5:30 AM and let the dogs out. I made coffee and then let the dogs back in. I feed the dogs and gave them fresh water and then about 5:40 started to pour myself a nice cup of coffee. The kitchen window was open a bit and I heard a car hit the gravel in my driveway...thinking it was the paper carrier and then a horrible sound of metal twisting. A car had hit our tree in the front yard. I yelled for Rick to wake up and then ran out the front door to check and see if anyone was hurt.

It didn't look like anyone was hurt seriously so I ran back in and called 911. Then I went back out and the older gentleman looked very shaken so since it was so cool outside this morning, I brought him into the house to wait for the paramedics and the sheriff.

What had happened was our paper carrier and his wife were in a truck facing south. They were stopped at our mail/paper box delivering our morning paper. The gentleman was heading north. Our house in on a small hill and coming the hill the gentleman couldn't tell which lane the truck was in and to keep from hitting him head on, he hit our tree. It was the paper carriers fault because he was actually on the wrong side of the road. I think the accident could have been avoided if the guy in the truck would have had his yellow flashing light on the top of his truck turned on, but he didn't.

I'm just really thankful to God that there was no one seriously hurt and that I didn't have to witness anything too horrible.

That poor man! His car looks terrible. I'm assuming you had no damage? Thank God everybody walked away from this accident.

I hope the postman knows he is going to be responsible for the damage.

Thank goodness no one was seriously hurt. I see that the airbag is even deployed in the car. Wow what a way to start your morning.
