				Restless Leg Syndrome

Does anyone here have this, or know someone who does? Gary has it really bad. It usually affects you when you try to go to sleep, but the meds he takes for it stops it from bothering him when he goes to bed.

It bothers him most when he sits and watches TV, rides in an airplane, or takes a long car ride - really any time he sits for long periods of time. Since his activity is so limited due to his heart failure, this is really frustrating for him. When he's on an airplane or a long car ride, he has to take a pain pill to manage the pain. It's really frustrating. I didn't realize that restless legs syndrome bothered people during the day while sitting. I thought it only happened at night in bed. He sees a doctor for it and takes Mirapex. We saw the doc today and he increased his dosage and has him taking it at 2:00PM, 7:00PM and at bedtime. I sure hope it helps. Anyway, I thought if someone here has it or knows someone who does, you might be able to share some information with me that might help Gary.

I haven't been diagnosed with it but my legs bother me. Some evenings they cramp and just won't rest and continue after I've gone to bed. I have found that taking a calcium and magnesium supplement helps me. The one that I take also has zinc in it too but I really don't think that I need it. I take one every evening before I go to bed or earlier if my legs are bothering me. Be careful taking too much because it can cause diarrhea. I even carry it with me in my purse because sometimes when I'm coming home from somewhere my legs will bother me. I hope this helps, Gary, it's been a lifesaver for me and very cheap to take care of.

My friend's mother has it, and she has to get up and walk around for a few minutes every so often. I don't know if Gary can do that because of his heart, but it seems to work for her. She also takes meds at night.

We don't have this problem, but Mike does have diabetic neuropathy in his legs. Sorry Gary is having trouble.
