Alaska Pics

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from Alaska

1. This is one of the Alaska huskies in Denali National Park. They have a working dog sled team as they use them to get around in the park in the winter. In the summer, they give demonstrations to the tourists (like me!)

2. Dog sled demonstration

3. Denali (Mt. McKinley) from the south

4. Denali (Mt. McKinley from the north

I just can't even imagine living in a place so beautiful!! The natives tell me though, to remember it is only this beautiful about 3-4 months out of the year. In the winter, everything is covered with snow and it is dark all but a few hours a day. Yet they say the winter beauty is magnificent too, and I can believe it.

Great pictures Gayle! It reminds me of my trip to the Yukon and Alaska a few years ago. My aunt and uncle live in Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory and it's so beautiful in the summer! My dad used to live up there too and he has always wanted to go back. Isn't it amazing how it's daylight amost all the time??? I remember arriving at about 1:00 am and it was still light out and it was so hard to sleep! I think I'd go a little crazy in the winter though!
