A couple of years ago my daughter was struggling with her reading. She had to read books at a certain reading level that wasn't comfortable for her to read in. I tried to get it lowered but couldn't. I decided that I would just remind her every day that she needed to read because if she didn't make her quota then her english grade would be lowered a whole grade. I reminded her and reminded her and one day I got her 5 week grades in the mail. When she got home I was getting on to her (She's very mild mannered and so you NEVER yell at her). She turned pale and said that she felt sick and turned around to go to the bathroom. Then she passed out cold on the floor! My husband was there with me when it happened and it scared us both!! She woke right back up and was fine. I swore that there was no grade that was worth the stress that she was feeling over all of this. I never said another word about it. She never reached her reading goal at all that year or part of the next year, but I didn't care. Her health was more important to me. Last year she had a special reading class and a wonderful teacher and I'm happy to say that she has greatly improved in her reading and actually seems to enjoy it now. Do what you can to make this a better situation. Your son's well being is more important than any grade!!
