A couple of years ago my daughter was struggling with her reading. She had to read books at a certain reading level that wasn't comfortable for her to read in. I tried to get it lowered but couldn't. I decided that I would just remind her every day that she needed to read because if she didn't make her quota then her english grade would be lowered a whole grade.

I reminded her and reminded her and one day I got her 5 week grades in the mail. When she got home I was getting on to her (She's very mild mannered and so you NEVER yell at her). She turned pale and said that she felt sick and turned around to go to the bathroom. Then she passed out cold on the floor! My husband was there with me when it happened and it scared us both!! She woke right back up and was fine. I swore that there was no grade that was worth the stress that she was feeling over all of this. I never said another word about it. She never reached her reading goal at all that year or part of the next year, but I didn't care. Her health was more important to me.

Last year she had a special reading class and a wonderful teacher and I'm happy to say that she has greatly improved in her reading and actually seems to enjoy it now.

Do what you can to make this a better situation. Your son's well being is more important than any grade!!
I agree, school puts them under a lot of pressure.
He loves he's school, and get's very good grades, but it sounds like he's mentor wants it all to be perfect, like last week he had to make a project for biology, he showed me, and to me it looked fine, so he took it to school, he had to redo it, he worked very hard on it, and took it back the next day, he sent it back again for him to redo, he redid it again for the third time. That next day he's mentor told him to come into school 2 hours earlier to redo it again, because he was still not happy with the way it looked. My son was soooooo upset.
Anyway, he did as he was told, he's mentor was surprised to see him at school that early? I mean really... either i'm not getting it, or the school system is totally confused.
But i am not leaving it like this, i will have a good talk to he's mentor at teacher/parents evening.
