Busy Week
It sure didn't start off well, so I'm really not wanting to wish time away, but I think I'm ready for next week...
Sunday...my birthday, no cards, no cake, and from family....only my brothers and my Mom wished me a happy birthday. Monday...took Mom to the Wellbound kidney center Tuesday...took Mom to hearing Dr. Wednesday....(today) took Mom back to Wellbound for lab work Thursday....taking Mom to the GI dr. Friday....I just know something will pop up Saturday...school day It would be nice if my brothers could help with Drs appts. but they work during the day. My older brother has helped and so has his wife, but I could use a break this week. I think my younger brother may take Mom to church on Sunday...we'll see. If someone can't take her....then I'm just gonna have to leave for a few hours. I need some alone time. I just never realized how hard it is taking care of an aging parent. But...I know we'll get through it. She's doing really well right now. Hasn't been in the hospital since Feb. 21st...I think it's a record. Oh I almost forgot.....Mom got her drivers license renewed yesterday...can you believe it? We all thought that since it expired, she would have to have a written or driving test, but noooooo...just fork over $12 and she's free to drive again...heaven help the other people on the road. Mom is also talking about going home....I honestly don't think she's capable and I'm afraid she might back slide if left alone so we'll see. It won't be for awhile yet, if ever, but she is talking about it. So that sums up the update on my life with Mom. LOL...maybe I should start a blog and title it: "Life With Mother"

I'm so sorry that you're week is so busy. Talk to your brothers and insist that they help a little bit to give you a break. Can you schedule appointments that they would be available for? That would probably help you out a lot!!
I can't believe that they gave your Mom a driver's license!!!! But then again, they don't know what her history has been with her health. And for you to insist that they take it away is hard because your Mom would be angry at her loss of independence. I guess just leave the car at her house where she can't start driving yet.....who knows....maybe someday you'll fell that she's well enough to start driving. You should have gone ahead and baked a cake and celebrated your birthday with your Mom!!! Or you could have gone out to eat!! Sometimes you just can't wait on other people to notice. Take charge and don't let it get you down!!! (I have a card for you.......it's sitting here on the counter!!!! You know me!!!) |

I sent you an ecard! I didn't have a celebration either, but they did try at least, and we will be together for the weekend.
Anyway, I still have my card from the Gecko! Seriously, I was a bit sad that I got no cards or calls from friends, but at the end of the day, Jess called me first thing in the morning, and left me a facebook post the night before, and on my birthday. My cousin called me, and my favorite Aunt, and then I ended the day with the kids singing HB to me over the speakerphone last night. I was happy because these are the people I love. Ahh! The wisdom that comes with age! Too bad you also get old too!

I hope things slow down a little bit for you Janet. Sounds like you have alot on your plate right now. Your brothers should help more with the dr appts for your Mom. I know they work but so do you! And yes it is extremely hard taking care of a sick parent, emotionally and physically drains you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
