I'm glad that this man's terror is ended. I hope that his followers can find them a new life.....but I'm really worried that they will continue with this man's hatred. I heard that they have already buried him at sea.....which is a great idea because it leaves his followers have no where to honor him. I was hoping that they would do this.

I think this is a day to rejoice! This man was evil, and now he has to answer to God (Allah).

Unfortunately, I think it's far from over
He was the charismatic mouthpiece of the al-Qaida, but there is still an al-Qaida, and there are still leaders up in the ranks, ready to take over if something like this happened. It was bound to happen sooner or later, and they've had 10 years to figure out what they were going to do if and when it did. bin Laden's health has been failing for years, and you bet he would have a backup plan to keep the organization running. I've noticed a huge difference between American and Canadian new sources! The USA seems to be cheering and celebrating, and Canada seems to be saying "Okay, get ready for some backlash" Personally, I think that will be inevitable. You know how Americans felt to see the celebrations in the streets in the Middle East after 9/11? The al-Qaida will be feeling the same way to see the American people celebrating the death of their leader. I think it's just adding fuel to the fire

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude or rain on your parade! I think it's great that he was finally caught! But I hope there are more plans in place to stop the rest of them. This isn't an organization that will just fall apart because bin Laden is dead. And I DO believe he is dead! I really am glad, but just cautiously glad I guess.

You are such a wise young woman Lindsey and I agree with you. I am already tired of the "rejoicing" over his death. There should be no doubt of retaliation.

Oh there will be retaliation - but he had to be killed, in my opinion. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have lost a loved one in the twin towers or on one of the planes, and have the master mind of the attack on the loose for almost 10 years.
I can certainly understand the rejoicing in the U.S. and I share peoples' joy that he is gone, but I know without a doubt, that terrorism is not over and there will be more.

You're not raining on our parade Linds. This is everybody's fear now, but I agree with Gayle. I think he had to go because he was so evil.
I think that's what Obama had to deal with in making this decision. I guess it was a question of not waking the sleeping giant, or facing evil. I have to say that I feel like a weight has lifted. I do not feel 100% okay with rejoicing in somebody else's death, but I have to be honest.
