I know exactly how it happens.......you and I weigh about the same. I am excited about this diet though!!! Maybe it's something that you could do too. It's basically very very low carbs. I get 20 a day but I'm not sure that I use all of them and I'm not hungry. I can eat quite a lot.....it just has to have low or no carbs. I had already cut out chips and potatoes and not much bread because of my diabetes so the transition to this has been pretty easy for the most part.
This is going to sound weird but I had two eggs for breakfast yesterday......ate half of a steak with a large salad for lunch......snacked on a package of bacon and finished the rest of it for supper with a large salad. I also had sugar-free jello. I can have cheese as well. Atkins has bars and shakes that are really pretty good so they help with the sweet fix. There's no measuring or counting calories......just watching carbs.....very easy. It's lots of protein and certain veggies!! The plan says that it actually helps with lowering cholesteroland blood pressure .....that's hard to believe but we'll see. My blood sugar is doing so much better for the last couple of days. This is a diet that I think that I can stay on for life......btw....I'm down 3 or 4 pounds this morning!!!!!!

Way to go Diana....I'm so happy for you. What you mentioned you hate....would have me starving. I did the SB diet and the lbs fell off, but if you don't stay on it, the weight all comes back. Way too easy to go back to the old ways of eating. I don't see a whole lot of difference between count carbs or counting calories....I still have to count..lol. Right now...during all this mess I'm living through....not sure I could do any weight loss program....in due time......in due time.

So far I've lost about 5 pounds. I'm glad to finally start seeing some results so I think that I'm not going to be weighing every day. Just knowing that what I'm doing is working is good for me.......I'm very excited about it.......staying off the scales will be hard!!!
Also the pond is finally warm enough so I'll be swimming a lot more!!! So excited about that......except for the snake we saw in the pond!!! YUCK!!!! Hopefully Mollee will find it......She's a snake killing dog!!!! |

That is wonderful Diana. I've always tried to just weigh once a week at the same time wearing pretty much the same thing. It's hard though...I want to lose every day and it's just not always possible. Sounds like you're doing everything right...I'm so proud of you.

Congratulations Diana!!!
How wonderful that you have lost so much!!! You must be feeling so proud! If the doctor's scale doesn't agree with yours, ignore it! I never pay attention to any scale but mine! I can't wait to see how much your sugar went down, your blood pressure, and whatever else the doc is watching!!!

My blood pressure is good because I take several medicines for that but hopefully I can get off of some of the meds when I lose weight.
My blood sugar test will be in another three months and I expect there will be a BIG change in it!!!! |

Okay...been looking at the Atkins Diet & thinking about it. Tell me what book you have Diana, I checked on Amazon and there are quite a few. I know the author has to be Atkins...lolol.

I have two books......one I bought at a garage sale.....
Then I bought the new one at Wal-mart...... There's also a LOT of information on their website and a forum to talk to others. Amy's started the diet lately and she had a really hard time with craving carbs but she said that yesterday the cravings were a lot better. I know that you have to stay on Induction for two weeks where you can only have 20 carbs and they are limited to certain foods but after that you can move on to Phase two. I have a couple of friends that have been doing this for awhile so I've been picking their brain about what they can eat and didn't eat. Shani snacks on bacon all day and she's lost over 30 pounds and is almost to her goal. Her husband has lost over 40!!!! |

I found a 110 calorie bar that I really like. Skinny Cow. There is a chocolate and a peanut butter chocolate. They are new I think. Skinny Cow has had ice cream sandwiches for a long time, but not bars. The bars are really more like a candy bar, so they aren't real filling but there are times when I just crave something that TASTES GOOD! These fit the bill. The only place I can find them are Walgreens Pharmacy.
I also like the 100 calorie Lance toasty peanut butter cracker sandwiches. It's perfect for my sweet/salty craving. I did well at the lake for the first 3 days, then I began to lose some control and eat things I shouldn't - like homemade ice cream. OH MY! Gary's uncle makes the BEST ice cream and I had to eat some. I got back in control the minute I got on the road home. WHEW! Sometimes when I'm dieting, and I get out of control, I can't get back in. But I'm doing really well. I didn't gain or lose while I was gone!
