I believe 100% that was your mom telling you "I'm on and doing well"! I really do. Almost everyone I know has had some sort of sign like that after they lose a loved one. Usually it is a vivid dream - but it can be so many things.

I may have told this before, but my uncle loved scissor-tailed flycatcher birds (it's the state bird of OK where he was from). As his wife and daughter were driving away from the cemetery after his burial (driving pretty slow down a dirt road), a scissor-tailed fly catcher flew beside the car for about a mile. There was no doubt in our minds that my uncle was telling his wife and daughter that he was there and he was fine.
