Going to the Dr.
Well I called my Dr. this morning and I have an appt. at 10:30 this morning. I'm not sure what is wrong, but I've been having this very uncomfortable pain, in the middle front of my body, right under my right boob! It kept me awake for awhile early this morning, so I thought I'd better go get it checked. I'm always afraid it's going to be the "C" word so I put off going!! I think this could be a (and I don't know how to spell it) Hienal Hernia. From what I've read it happens a lot with those who suffer from GERD and that's me!! A couple of weeks ago, I thought I had just pulled a muscle or something, but it's gradually getting worse. So I'll be off to the Dr. here in a few minutes.

JANET! GOOD LUCK at the doctor today!!!!!!!! I'll keep you in my prayers. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Who knows....maybe it COULD be just a pulled muscle or something! Anyway, ((((((hugs)))))) to you! Let us know something when you get home!

Back from the Dr.!!! First off, it wasn't hurting when I when in, wouldn't ya know? Even when he pressed on it, it didn't hurt. But it hurt for a while on the way home....go figure!!
I asked him about the hernia (?) and he said it sounded very much like it, by what I decribed. I am to start taking the aciphex (for the GERD) again, because it will help with the hernia, if that is what it is. I am to try it for a week and see how I feel, and then check back with him when the meds are gone. If it doesn't help, we will start doing some tests. I also sat and cried about my weight. He knows how many "diets" I've been on, saw me lose, saw me gain. Then we both realized it had been 2 years since my thyroid has been checked. My drier skin, tiredness, and inability to lose weight can all stem from my thyroid. I will know late tomorrow afternoon what the results are. I sure hope something can happen to help me!! Thanks Rebecca for the well wishes. You are one on here that I know will always be on my side and wishing me well!!! I luv ya girlfriend!!!

I am SOOOO glad to hear that it isn't anything serious and that your doctor is working with you not only on your potential hernia and GERD, but that he is also taking the steps to help you with your weight. Please keep us updated!!!!!! Your doctor sounds like a nice man who you can trust and confide in.

He and his nurse both encouraged me NOT to be so down on myself about my weight. That even if I was doing everything 100% right, if my thyroid meds need adjusted, it still wouldn't help that much. The thyroid can screw it up big time. So....I'll know more tomorrow.

I won't know how to spell all of this but GERD is Gastro Esophical Reflux Disease. I had never heard of it before, but I was waking up around midnight with bad pains in the middle of my chest and then sweating so bad while vomiting. The aciphex really does wonders with that. Haven't had another episode since I started the meds. Hopefully it will help whatever this is that is happening now. One time they rushed me by ambulance because we thought I was having a heart attack. So scary. After I got home, there was a message that my brother was in the ER with a heart attack, so I drove back to town to be with him.

I also wanted to say to everyone that I always know I can come here to feel better. You all have got to be the most caring ladies in the world...creme of the crop!!!
I will let you all know how things go with the Thyroid test, hopefully the meds just need adjusting and I can start taking some more of this weight off. I think that's half if not more of my problem.

Janet, I hope you DO have a thyroid deficiency... and before anyone says "Hey that's not nice!" let me explain. LOL
I have hypothyroid and have been on meds for it for several years. The meds are cheap and work very well! I lost about 52 lbs just by going on the meds. I also see a major improvement in my energy level, my hair and skin, my moods, etc. My thyroid was SO far off when I was diagnosed that I actually cried with relief when I got the call. Normal tsh is between 3.5 and 5. Mine was 61, which my dr said could have had me weighing much more and being much sicker than I was. I was on anti-depressants, couldn't lose weight, was losing my hair, had hit 251 lbs, and was simply miserable. It's such a common thing and is so easily treated, that I can't believe they don't test routinely for it. I suspect it's more beneficial to the clinics to keep you coming back to be treated for the multitude of symptoms it causes since once diagnosed most feel dramatically improved! Good luck hon! I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. Life's too short to spend it being miserable.
