Well haveing had a golden labrador and a yorkie ( both now at rainbowbridge) I think the labrador was far easya to bath.
Both hated the bath but the lab was big enough not to hide our yorkie could find his way into the smallest of hidy holes, once in the bath size was no differance they could both splash as far as the ceiling with water. When it came to drying our lab loved the warmth of the dryer but our Yorkie would give me the run around the bedroom untill he was dry and my room was wet so give me a large dog anytime ![]() Last edited by highlans; 12-30-2006 at 11:10 PM. |

All of mine love their bath time. Penny, our Golden Retriever goes crazy. I usually bathe her in my underwear or swimsuit. She wants to play and has water all over the walls and mirror. She will stand perfectly still while I scrub her down and rinse, but after that she's in play mode.
The Yorkies just stand there and look at me like..when will we be done?...LOL I give all a bath in the bathtub, but I don't fill it. I have a shower hose that I use and just have it running all the time. I use to give them their bath in the kitchen sink, but it's colder in there than in the bathroom. I use PetSilk products and can't see me ever changing. Their coats are beautiful and they smell so good. I bathe them every two weeks.

My little Zoe (Yorkie) hides also. Once I brush her and start running water, she is gone. Chase (Yorkie) loves his bath. Goldie (15 year old, 14 lb. spitz mix rescue dog) loves her bath, but goes crazy shaking and gets water everywhere. They all get bathed at the kitchen sink (I use lots of Clorox Cleanup to sanitize afterwards). Zoe at least once per week, Chase about every 2 weeks & Goldie, whenever. I need help with Goldie. I'm searching for better products for Zoe. Will probably try the Pet Silk as soon as I can order it. Chase has a skin problem so use a medicated shampoo for him. Anything works on Goldie.

I just use a nice oatmeal shampoo/conditioner from petsmart. Most of the time I end up using my own shampoo.
I feel your pain! LOL Diesel is very easy to bathe. SHEP on the other hand is a handful! Emily and I BOTH had to take showers after giving him a bath!

That is kind of like our Penny (Golden Retriever). I have to put one of those screen things in the drain and empty it a dozen time or more so it doesn't clog up the drain. I brush and comb her real good, but that hair just doesn't stop coming out. You'd think she would be hairless by now. On a Golden the hair is a bit longer than on a lab and it flies everywhere.
I've seen medication that you can buy (Fosters & Smith) to stop the shedding, but I've always thought it wrong to medicate for something natural that they do. I'm just not one to medicate me or my doggies unless it's necessary.
