That kills me janet! I could never take the tree down that fast. It takes me about 4 days to decorate because I am so picky about everything looking perfect. Beng an artist I really love the decorations and taking them down is really hard for me...Plus my sister and her family comes and we have a week long christmas blow out so I would never get away with taking it down that quick... besides it would KILL ME! Do you cook Christmas dinner? How can you undecorate and cook??? I have tons of decorations!

I think part of my problem is the childhood Christmas' I experienced. Just not that many good memories. So I just don't like having all the Christmas stuff out. I do try though...LOL...we had the tree up for about 2 weeks, finally moved it out of the center of the living room, moved it to the corner, stayed that way for a week and then the week before Christmas we finally decorated it. Not much at that either. I only put out two or three other decorations and just in the living room. We didn't even turn on the tree lights until Christmas morning. Then everything was put up and done with by 3:00 - 3:45 at the latest.

We use to have an older couple that lived just down the road and she never had to decorate her tree. In their nicely finished basement, there was a huge storage area. They put a big plastic tree bag over their tree and then moved it all down to the storage area and then every Christmas moved it back up. That to me would be heaven!! All I would have to do then is set out other decorations...lol..not nearly the work.

Our Christmas tree is a big deal for us. It was up a little later this year, but usually is up 2 to 3 weeks before Christmas, all decorated and lighted. This is what really gets us in the Christmas spirit. We have a real tree, even though hubby has been threatening to get artificial. We take it down around New Years. This year it came down Saturday before New Years because it was a convenient time. Christmas has good childhood memories for me.

However, one bad Christmas tree memory was the year we got married. Our aniversary is December 22. I got home from college that year, and my parents did not have our tree up. They were waiting for me to do it. The tree would not fit into the stand, so I was on the back porch hacking at the bottom of the tree with a butcher knife. I missed the tree and cut the index finger on my left hand near the base of the finger. It went really deep. I think it hit bone, but fortunately did not cut the tendon. My father would not let me go to the doctor. Should really have had stitches, but I splinted the finger with popsickle sticks, tape and a bandage. This was about a week before my wedding, so on wedding day, it had healed enought that I had a bandaid over it, and held my finger very straight. Still have the scar to remember that one by. At first I thought I had cut my finger half off. Freaked me out!!!

Our tree is still up, Brooke. I have so many decorations on it that it takes more than a day to take it down. We had a Christmas party here at the house on Dec. 30 so I had to leave it up until then. I'm thinking that I'm going to bring up one box at a time and start taking decorations off of it. I collect ornaments so taking it down is hard for me to do.

I had 2 trees this year and 1 is still up. It is a special tree. My son is a Senior in high school and I made a tree with his school colors and mascot. It is a tigers tree with orange and black ornaments, stuffed tigers, orange nerf footballs and sports ornaments. I have a stuffed tiger on top with a Santa hat and scarf.I hate taking it down because I wont have the ornaments to put on it again because they will be passed on to another Senior next year. What a tradition!!

I actually kinda go thru a "downer time" once the tree and all the house decorations are removed. I absoutley love the look in the house w/ the lighted tree and all the festivites of color splashed all over. It's a warm and fuzzy feeling and then BAM! it's over. Silly I know, but I can't help but feel a little loss when it's all gone.

It's the new year and I still miss turning the tree lights on each morning. All those "twinkle" lights gone.

I don't decorate for any other holiday so Christmas is a biggy to me.

I knew a lady who got a flocked tree one year and liked it so much she left it up for several years. There was even an article in our local paper about her and the tree. I haven't see her in years or heard anything about the tree. I thought this was so wierd. I can't imagine how she kept it clean. The dust must have been horrible!!
