 I discussed it with the vet, and since I really do not have the time to devote to the whole show thing, I am going to get him neutered.

Oh Rebecca!!! He is so adorable. It makes me want to get another lab now!! Ours were good dogs too, well one of them was kind of onry, but still a good dog. One good thing, they didn't start hiking until they were a year old (we never had them neutered back then, but they never reproduced either). It was always a big deal when we saw them hike the first time outside. The labs we had were housetrained so fast and never ever went in the house.
