What a day!
Sometimes I think I'm just getting too old!!!...LOL
Yesterday we had a two hour delay for school. Because of the temps and to give the plows a chance to clear the roads from the snow we had. I went out and started the bus, no problem. Went back inside to get ready and get on here..lol. Then at 8:00 AM (I leave at 9) I went out to move the bus up closer to the house. IT WOULDN'T MOVE!!! My brakes were froze. The transportation director came out and tried to pull me, but it wouldn't work. So I rode back to school with him to get another bus. Ran my route, although 30 minutes late, but hey, the kids don't mind. When I got home, I had to take the salamander (sp) out to try and heat up the breaks. It was a lot of work, I had to shovel a path around the rear of the bus to pull the salamander out, get it all plugged in and then wait on it to thaw. Took over 45 minutes, but I was able to get the bus moved and drove it for the afternoon route. I am just getting too old for shoveling snow and hauling big heaters around in it...LOLOL I was so worn out and then with this cold, I went to bed at 7:30 last night. This morning, I am so sore I feel like I was hit by a 'bus.' Isn't spring here yet?????

My goodness Janet how about changeing your job to something a little more sedate.
We woke up to snow this morning and as always every thing in the uk comes to a halt, the one good thing is my son was up and out to school without being told twice. My 2 year old grandaughter insisted on playing out and when I managed to get her in spent the next half hour crying she was cold then she insisted I warmed her with the hairdryer. Think she has me wraped round her little finger Ha. |

Awwww, Janet, so sorry you are having to endure such cold. I have know idea what kind of heaters you had to use & don't really understand about frozen brakes, but to heat a school bus brakes, it must be pretty large. Spring will come, eventually.

Janet, you did better than I would have in just getting it done!
We had only 2" of snow on the sidewalk in front of the bank, and Andrew had to leave for the day, so he suggested that either I or Tina, our part time teller, would need to shovel it. It's only about 30 feet, but I told him that since I've had a heart attack, I don't "DO" shoveling. It's the first time I've refused to do something, but there's no way I will shovel snow and risk my heart.

Good for you for making the stand for your heart! If that's all the snow there was, he could have cleared it before he left for the day. He must really be a piece of work, this manager.

Oh, wow, I agree. Don't they have a custodian to do stuff like that??? I just can't see a lady dressed to work in a bank out shoveling snow. Now really!!! and physical effort like in the extreme cold that would have to be hard on the heart, the insensitive snit!!

Is the soreness gone yet Janet?
I hope you're ok! BTW A man who was shoveling for a business next door decided to do ours as well. I told my manager who had done it; his response? "I hope he doesn't think I'm paying him for it!"
