Cross your fingers please
A local company is hiring a bunch of people to start work on Monday. They're having a job fair on Thursday that I can't get to because I will be working without a manager in the bank that day, so I called them today. I was directed to apply online, so did that as soon as I got home today.
I was told that in the position I am in at the bank, if I turn in my resignation I would likely be sent home immediately rather than be expected to work 2 weeks as is normal. I would LOVE if they do that so I will be free to start something else without feeling I let them down. Just the idea of not having to go back there next week excites me! The new job wouldn't be anything at all glamorous, but is said to be quite relaxed and repetitive. Sounds like a whole lot less stress to me! To top it off, it's a PM shift which I'd love and is only Mon thru Thurs, so I'd have 3 day weekends EVERY week! After working 6 days most weeks, I can't hardly dare hope I'll get hired, but I sure would like to! I just had to share this with you all and ask for your support. I don't want to go on any longer than I have to in a job that makes me feel so cruddy.

Tink ~ That is so wonderful that you have possibly an "out" to the career now which you find less then appealing. Keep positive and tell yourself "you will be getting this job", and I am sure everything will work out fine.
Remain positive and it's always nice to see others who don't feel "locked' into something that is so negative. There are ALWAYS options better out there for those who want / need it. Keep us posted!!!

I talked to the recruiter tonight for the job I was hoping to get, and I'm bummed.
He said he feels I would be bored senseless at the job level that I've applied for, and he would have to interview me before he'd even consider hiring me for it. Since I can't get time off to go interview tomorrow, I won't be getting a job next week. He said if I can come in for an interview at any time in the future, he's sure he can find a suitable job for me. He was satisfied with my application and work history, but concerned that I'd find the work too menial. I don't want a SUITABLE job! I want a mindless, relaxed job that I don't have to take home with me when I leave and won't be all stressed out by! Argggggggg

Tell him that your qualifications of job work ethic, enthusiasm, self dicipline, etc can be used at this job also and maybe explain to him how excited you were to have this. Don't let him tell you what he thinks you want, tell him what YOU want. Good luck - don't let it rest. If this is what you want then go GET IT!

So sorry Tink! But do as Sheryl suggested. Tell the recruiter what you want.
Sometimes I wish I had a different job, one where I can use my brain more, but then I would also have to have deadlines and stress. I just don't want that anymore. So driving the bus is good for me.
