There still is a macho attitude among many men about their health. Maybe that can change through time, but all men do need to realize that their health is not just about them, the man's health or ill health will affect their family as well. It really is generally advisable to listen to doctor's orders regarding health issues, if they are not satisifed with the doctor's decision, a man should go in for a second opinion elsewhere.
You are indeed correct about waiting in regards to health, there are bad situations which can be preventable if it is taken care of promptly. Such situations may be quitting smoking or drinking, losing weight when obese, or getting annual prostate exams. You may want to ask his doctor's office directly about what you can say or advise your husband to take his current back situation more seriously. |
