About time!
My next door neighbor I've written about was here just a bit ago to let me know she's moving out with her kids. She claims to have given custody of them to her ex, so hopefully they will finally have a better life. The guy next door has only been with her a couple of years, married less than a yr.
She also said since the lot next door is in her name but not her dh's, she will likely end up selling it or losing it, because she can't afford to keep up those payments plus rent a different place. They paid far more than it's worth less than a year ago to buy the lot which has their mobile home on. The 2 are mortgaged on separate loans, with the house being in HIS name. He has felonies on his record, can't hold a job, and has trash for credit, so there's no way HE can refinance it in his own name. I've been telling dh that each battle and problem over there was just one step closer to them leaving... it's so good to see that coming into being! I'd love to be able to buy their lot, but there's no way I want to pay near what they did for it. It would be nice not to have to worry about who might move in there next! It would also double our space. I just had to share my relief. As many of you know, they've been a real thorn in our side in what's otherwise a very nice community.

Wow!! What a turn of events!!! I bet that you're really relieved that they're leaving.
We used to have some neighbors that lived a quarter mile away and they had a band. Since they lived in the country they would play really late into the night. Our house wasn't well insulated and since they played really loud, the sound would just come right through our house. I would lay awake at night listening to their rock and roll. I finally started praying that God would move them out and in a few months they moved and the house was torn down!!!!

Thanks all
I've been praying they'd be leaving soon, so see this as an answer to prayer. I imagine the guys will hang in here just as long as possible... most likely they will have to be evicted after a foreclosure, so it could be a long time before they're really gone, but at least it's a start. I'm hoping that in the mean time I can start setting aside cash to purchase the lot when it comes up for sale. Owning it would guarantee we won't have another situation like this in the future. The price will likely be more than I feel it's really worth, but I have to think of it as purchasing peace...

I'm glad you're finally getting them out of there. I know that is what you've been wanting. Maybe it will go into foreclosure or something and you can get it at a great price. We can hope can't we????

I bet you are ready to go over there and help them pack boxes up!! Janet, that's great news. I'm happy for you, now you won't have problem neighbors that bother you after they get out. Hopefully you'll have some nice new people move in there after them!

Tink, how totally awesome. I was really, sincerely worried about how they would react to your survey, and what they might do if they were drunk and angry. Are you going to postpone the survey now? It might be best to wait a little while and do it when they are gone.

Marilyn, I'm guessing they won't give up on that lot easily. If they make the bank do a foreclosure it could be a year before they're evicted. It could also be that the mans mother will bail him out of yet another situation.
He is in his early 40's, but his Mother has the loan on the trailer and gave them the down payment for the lot as well as co-signing for the loan on it with his wife. I suspect she will try to help him keep the lot until next time he goes to jail or she gets tired of making the payments for him. His soon-to-be ex wife was the only one working and she won't have any interest in paying for the land for him to live on. So we're going to get the survey done asap to prevent problems during what will likely be a tumultous time in hope that they will get the hint and just stay away from us. I too will be surprised if I don't end up having to call the police during the survey or erection of the fence, but without doing it, they think they're winning which just gives them more determination to keep harrassing us.

It's great news that, at least the mom and kids are leaving, and hopefully he'll go too. I agree with you about the survey and the fence. You have courage, you're aware of the possibilities of a bad reaction, and you're prepared to deal with it. Sounds like a plan.
Isn't it wonderful that things sometimes actually work out the way we prayed they would!
