Tornado in NYC
We had a heavy rain storm early this morning and an E6(?) tornado came through
a section of Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens. They traced the line and it was a straight line through the 3 boroughs. Of course, a tornado here can't muster up any power. It's too confined, but a lot of trees and electrical wires came down, roofs were torn off of buildings and some signs came down. For NYC, it's a big deal. Nobody was hurt, thank goodness. It did come through my neighborhood, but I didn't see any damage on my block. The city is really getting old. The heavy rains caused bad leaks into the subways, which are underground; The third rail on a lot of lines got wet and subway service in the entire city was shut down for many of the train lines. We can't function without our subways. People can't get to work, for one thing. I think one woman died in a car incident from the storm, which is very sad. You wouldn't believe the media! Bulletins all day long, pictures of the rain. The tornado damage and so on. Put one of us in Kansas, and we'd perish with the first weather issue! It is terrible about the woman who died and the subway stoppage though.

Oh my! I'm so sorry Judy. I will keep you and your neighborhood in my thoughts.

I'm glad that you're alright, Judy. Tornados can be so destructive but it sounds like you had a small one. I've never heard of an E6 tornado. The one that hit Greensburg was an F5 which is the worst.
In Kansas when it storms we keep an eye on the weather with the internet and watch the storms and their severity. For those who live in town there's a tornado siren, but we live too far out to hear it.
