Dear Tink,
I just read this and I'm sorry you were taken advantage of. I hope you have the title, or can get your hand on it. I would sell the car and confront him/her about the $40 in a matter of fact tone. It does hurt to be taken for granted, but it happens. I think people have to be taught how to treat you. Good luck.
