Well obviously, they have seen your work compared to theirs, so take the job and be proud of yourself!

Congratulations and good luck!!
Maybe you can take them all out to lunch the day before it is officially announced and be real humble and sincere when you tell them about it. That might make them feel like they're in your 'inner circle' and help them to take it a little better. (After all they probably will already know... especially if it's a small office... those rumor mills can be brutal!) Or better yet... take them to a happy hour. Let the liquor loosen their lips a little so you find out how they really feel! ![]() Now if they will be reporting to you, that could open up a whole new can of worms. As long as you are being honest, sincere and from the heart, it should be hard for any decent person to get POd. And if they do... sic Janet on them! ![]() |

Congratulations on the promotion!
Since the job was offered to you, you've obviously earned it and shouldn't have to feel bad about accepting it. Your friends will have to adjust and maybe even consider what they'd have done had it been offered to them instead! Don't let worry over their reaction minimize your pride in your accomplishment. It's not often enough that we get a pat on the back and I'm sure yours is well deserved.

I'm a very cynical person, so if you want to disregard my comments, it will not hurt my feelings, but here it goes......
You need to live your life for YOU. Do NOT be worried about other people. If one of THEM got the promotion do you think THEY would take it?! YES! Then WHY IN THE WORLD would you not do the same thing?! You obviously DESERVE this promotion. If they are not happy for you and cannot celebrate in your success and are instead jealous, then they are NOT your friends. Just remember that. A true friend will delight in your success and if they don't do that, then don't worry about it because they were never your true friend in the first place. |
