It's Finally Here!!!

My husband finally ordered my new computer and it came yesterday!!!! We ended up going with Dell because we're very happy with my husband's computer and with the service that we've had with them. It's a Dell Latitude laptop with a 15 inch screen and it's got bluetooth! I have a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse and we also got a new printer! I'm so excited to finally be able to get on when I want to!!! No more waiting on my husband to get off!!!! Yeah!!!! Now I just have to work on getting the settings where I want them.

YAY!!!! I was just thinking of you today Diana and wondering if you got your new computer yet. How exciting!!! Both the guys have a wireless mouse, but they just use the keys on the laptop. I don't care for that myself...I'd have to get a wireless keyboard like you.

I sure love my Dell desktop and of course my son loves his Dell laptop. Hubby has an Acer laptop and so far likes it just fine.

That's good news Diana. No more waiting in line for your turn. I love the wireless mouse. I never thought of using a wireless keyboard.

There's a good site for stuff like this:

Yugster.com. They have daily deals and I did order a keyboard and mouse for about $10 a while ago. I just put them away for when I need to replace this one.

Have fun with the settings.

I really like having a keyboard with the laptop. I've used my daughter's laptop and one of the things that I really didn't like was the keypad. Getting the wireless keyboard was my husband's idea. We wanted the printer to be bluetooth but for some reason it didn't come with it but he called Dell and they have the printer set up wireless through our Linksys! I'm really excited about having a new printer too. I love to copy and edit pictures for my scrapbooking. I knew that you'd all be excited for me!!! Thanks!!!!!!

Hey...I didn't know there was a wireless printer????? I have the Linsky's so we can all be online at the same time, but I didn't know the printer could work like that. Is it just the Dell printer or will all printers do it?

It's set up using the Linksys and a Wi-fi printer. My husband says that all you'll need is a printer that is wi-fi. However, he was on the phone with Dell for probably an hour and a half getting it set up this way. You might need some technical help. It's really cool how it works. My husband even has it set up where he can print using his computer. The only cord to it is the plug in!

Congratulations!!! Diana. One suggestion, if you did not buy extended service, you may wish to consider it. I have a Dell laptop for work that is just over a year old, and in less than a year, the screen went out. Fortunately it was still under the one year warranty, but the Dell service technician said he replaces quite a few of them. We also have Dell desktops at the office and three of three needed new motherboards and powersupplies before they were a year old. Hopefully they have had time to address these issues before building your new machine.

For this reason, we bought an Acer for our daughter for Christmas. It is working out fine except that she had to restore it to factory settings a few days ago due to a Microsoft issue and lost her documents. She had backed up her music and pictures, but not her Microsoft Office files.

I'm not sure any of them are as reliable as they should be.

Hope you have many, many years of reliable operation from your new machine!!!

How exciting Diana! I bet you are just loving it! Dell's and HP's are my favorites.

How are you getting along with that new laptop? Getting something new like that is always so much fun. Finding out what special programs they came with can be time consuming and exciting.

Thanks, Marilyn for the advice. We did purchase Dell's Gold Package for our computer. We've used it several times with my husband's computer. We get technical help and replace parts and repair. We had to go with a small business to get the package but in our past experience it was well worth it.

We ended up staying with Windows XP instead of going with Vista so everything is pretty familiar. There's a media player that I haven't worked with yet. I gotta' get off of here before I can learn about the other parts of my computer. LOL
