This story brings me to my knees. Please, if you feel like doing so, digg up this story so it gets as many hits as possible...

Thanks guys....

I emailed the Director of Federal Bureau of Prisons. He would be the big boss of federal prisons. He is based in DC and should be able to let a visit happen. If everyone would send a quick message maybe it would help. Here is what I sent. Feel free to copy and paste:

Subject: Little girl dying while Dad finishes last 4 months of sentence

Dear Honorable Harley G Lappin,
I am writing to see if you could allow this father a furlough to visit his dying ten year old daughter. His name is Jason Yaeger and he is in the Yankton, SD facility with only a few months left of his drug sentence. His daughter is dying of a brain tumor and needs her dad by her side. This poor child has already suffered so much. I ask this with her best interests in mind.

I do not know the family but feel compassion is warranted in this sad case.
Thank you for your consideration.

The email addy I found is :

hlappin@BOP.gov

I think the email is good because so far it has not been returned.

So sad.

Tink, this story breaks my heart.
I copy, pasted, and sent an e-mail also.
I'm gonna send this to everyone I know.

Thanks Kat, I knew I could count on help here to at least try.
I think the child needs to see her daddy... let him finish his sentence, but have a heart for the child since she may not be around to see him released.

I just sent it to all my family and close friends that I think will send respond. I told them they could copy and paste my letter, to save time.
I hope she gets to have her Dad at her bedside, I can't even imagine....
Maybe this is why we were meant to be up this late.
Bless You Tink!

I don't have time right now to view this, but from what you have written I can see what it is about. I will check it out later and send emails and share it as well. Sounds like a very sad situation, very worthy of our support.

That is such a sad story. Thanks for letting us know about it, Tink. I sent my e-mail.

BTW-What are you two girls doing up so late anyway?

I'm going to send an email now, then I'll pass the link on to others. I'll try to get it emailed to all the social work students. They're really good about writing letters and taking action in these kinds of situations.

This is certainly a sad situation. I have sent this on as well and sincerely hope that she will be able to see her dad before her time here is up.

Thanks Tink for bringing this to our attention.

I fell asleep watching T.V. and woke up at 1 AM and couldn't fall back to sleep, so I read a bunch of old threads until I got sleepy again. (at 4:30am)
I think Tink was busy doing the research on that poor little girl.
Once again Tink, thank you for sharing her story. I hope everyones efforts make a difference on this one.

That's really sad. When my best friend was killed, his dad was in prison for stealing a pair of jeans (3 Strikes Law). They wouldn't even let him out to go to his funeral. He wasn't even dangerous.
