Oh my goodness Diana! I kept laughing out loud when I was reading that. You should have seen the looks Brendon was giving me. I think he thinks I'm crazy now. LOL

Diana that was very funny. I am due to go for my first colonoscopy. But I am sooooooooo chicken. I keep putting it off. Have any of you ladies gone? If so share your experience...

It really is pretty much as post #1, honestly. Here in Indiana the liquid is called GoLite and you have to drink a bunch of it to get you all cleaned out. The worst part of the whole procedure is drinking that stuff because it tastes absolutely horrible. They don't tell you until afterwards that you can mix it with 7-up or sprite. Don't know what it tastes like mixed, but by itself it is horrible.

I had to drink the same stuff when I had my hysterectomy. For me...as soon as it went down I got sick....AND within 5 minutes was running to the bathroom...iterally running, because you can't stop the diarrhea. Horrible, absolutely horrible, plus I ended up with hemmoroids..SUCKS!! The rest of the procedure you're 'out' so you know nothing!

Very funny! I love Dave Barry. I've had a few colonsocopies because my mom and my aunt both died of colon cancer. Thank God my Dr. says I'm "clean as a whistle".....for those of you who just CAN NOT drink the liquid they do make pills now. I've done both. I think the pills were worse! There are seven million of them and each one is the size of my pinky! And you have to drink so much water with them. Yuck! My pharmacy offered different flavors of the Go Lightly (false advertising if I've ever heard it). So, the liquid tastes like flavored chalk! It is an important test to have though. If my mom had been having them she would be alive today!

I've had it twice, and it's really no big deal. Then again, I really enjoyed the 1960's, so anytime I'm going to be put out, I enjoy it. I'm very relaxed for a long time afterwards.

The GoLite is ginormous, and I find it's a good idea to just take the jug with me into the bathroom do I can finish it off while "emptying" my colon. It's not a tasty treat, even though I got the lemon flavored.

I always say that every cloud has a silver lining. You lose quite a few pounds after you're running on empty.

My doctor does it at around 4 PM, so you can eat the night before, so it's only a one day thing.

I've had it done twice, also. I got to eat the day before each time. The absolute worst part was drinking the liquid. I never did get it all down either time, but did get enough to clean me out. I really tried to drink it all. It's just not possible for me. The experience is pretty much as described above. I'd rather go through this though than be told I should have done this and now it's too late.
