For Tink!!

I was just wanting to tell you that a friend of mine stopped by today. She use to live right down the road, but divorced her husband and moved with her family to Kentucky. She was here in Indiana for a visit when her sister called and said that her Golden Retriever Desi, tried jumping the fence and hung himself.

I guess the ground is really hard where she lives...so she drove 3 hours home to get Desi and then 3 hours back up here and had her ex bury him on the farm. After this task was done, she stopped by for a visit.

This must be more common than one would like to think. I immediately told her about your loss. She is very distraught, but still has another dog to take care of and as you know that helps quite a bit.

I just wanted to share it with you since I knew you'd understand her grief.

Oh Janet, that's awful. I still get weepy when I think about Bella. What really haunts me is the image of her 4 week old puppies trying to rouse her and nurse off her cold dead body. **SHUDDER**

I am so lucky Greg and Josh were here that morning to get her down and bury her because I truly don't think I could have handled it (physically or emotionally). Since it happened I've heard about another dog too that died the same way... so devastating! We have since put the electric wire back on top of our fence to discourage our dogs from trying to climb or jump and have a repeat of that tragedy. I'd rather they get a shock as a reminder to stay off it than to lose another one that way.

My prayers are with your friend. I truly do understand how mortified she must be.

Thanks for thinking of me. HUGS
