OH gosh I cannot even think about it. My heart still aches and it does still bring tears to my eyes. I am from Boston area and 2 of the planes involved left from Logan Airport. How sad

Also NYC is not so far from us and its one of my favorite places in the world. I just love it! I've been to ground 0 on New Years Day 2002 (3 months later) and it was tear jerking. Lines of flowers and people around BLOCKS trying to say their prayers. Every year on this anniversary we all come together as Americans, it seems for one day we are capable of opening our hearts wider and we come together with one common goal, to pay our respects to those who were lost in those tragedies. To grieve together. I know we are all busy and we all go on our way each and every day, but to have this one day to come together as a nation and grieve together makes the United States seem a little bit smaller and a little more like one gigantic family. Peace to your hearts today ladies. |

At the time, I was living about 30 minutes from Boston - it was terrifying to know that the planes had come from that airport. I remember people around be being worried that Boston would be hit also.

I was teaching a CPR class at the time, someone ran in and turned on the tv - I think the memory that will stay with me the longest is the feeling of disbelief as the first tour fell. |

I was in 11th grade, it was Blast From the Past day for Welcome Week. I was all decked out in 60's attire! My whole class was following my teacher to the library, and I had no idea what was going on, everyone was just talking and chattering as usual. There was a tv set up and we sat down and watched and within seconds the whole mood completely changed. We were there for the whole morning I think, glued to the tv. We later went back to our classes and had 2 minutes of silence throughout the school.

11th grade. Lindsey you are a young one... I remember this day vividly, my husband worked in the building the first time it was bombed, then he moved across the street to another building a few years later. That morning he was coming out of the Path train in the Tower and was oblivious to it all. Luckily the building didn't collapse as they were approaching the station. It took him several hrs. to call and come home but he was lucky both times. He had seen people jumping from building it was horrible, it is a day we Americans will never forget. He is reminded everyday for his office window faces the pit... |
