I hope that all goes well tomorrow. I think part of your uneasiness might be the results of the procedure, rather than the procedure. If the fistula is in place, then your mom will (most likely) start dialysis, which means her kidneys have failed and she is permanently on dialysis, she has a permanent chronic and disabling condition. She seems OK right now, but with the fistula, things are set in motion that can't be taken back.

Maybe I'm just making things up - but the acknowledgement of a serious chronic illness like kidney failure, is not easy for you or her.

I'll be thinking of both of you tomorrow.
