Lindsey...thank God you're all right, it could have been a horribly different story had they gotten in. It's not a safe world anymore and even though we sometimes 'feel' safe, we can never take it for granted and let our guard down.
From now on girl....keep doors and windows shut and locked. I am so glad nothing happened to you!!! squeeze hug.gif

I am so glad too! Thank God for Layla! She might not be that intimidating, but I really think that's what kept them from taking more. We have two barbeques right there!
Anyways, my roommate's parents are coming in this weekend, and her mom said she will try to find us some kind of locking thing for sliding doors that is even better than the ones they come with. My brother said he's going to buy another mini bike and sleep on the couch lol I think Layla was really trying to wake me up last night because she was being BAD. On top of the barking and running around, she took one of her bows from my night stand, broke the barette on the back, and took a peice of the metal into my room and threw it around the floor. I got up and took it from her and went back to sleep... I was tired, and I'd deal with it in the morning. On a regular day I would have gotten up to find where the rest of the bow was. It was under the kitchen table, right beside the living room where the deck is. She also stole some other stuff from my room that I found under the table this morning. And she pooped right in front of the sliding doors LOL I guess just in case they tried to come in ![]()

I agree with Janet, Lindsey glad you are alright.. But you got to lock those doors and windows.. It is not safe anywhere anymore.

I would imagine that the bike was probably what they were after but you probably need to get a chain and lock for the other items on your deck. It does sound like Layla was a pretty good watch dog!!! You should make sure that she gets some extra loving and treats today!!!!
As far as locking your sliding glass door all you need is a dowl rod or a piece of wood cut to fit in the track of the door when it's closed. It's very easy to lock and unlock too. Thank goodness that you're alright and that he decided not to come on into the house. I'm sure that it was very scary when you found out.

My dogs are barkers for sure and I do complain about it. But they are also my watchdogs when the guys are gone camping with Scouts. It's probably a good thing too that you did ignore her...hard telling what could have happened if they new a pretty young lady was in the house alone.

Luckily I wasn't here alone last night, and now I'm scared of being here alone! We have all really been paranoid today. We have had the door locked at all times. Unlock the door to get in, and then lock it again. My roommate was out and my brother was out when I left for my class tonight, so I left a couple of lights on inside so it wouldn't look like the house was empty. I think we're going to start leaving our porch light on overnight too. Ugh tonight after class I was standing around talking with my friends, and I realized I felt safer on a sidewalk downtown right outside a parking garage, than I do in my own house right now.

Lindsey, so sorry that this had to happen to you. We've had several things stolen from us over the years. The worst part is the feeling that you have been invaded. Sounds like you have a really good watchdog there!!! She was really working to alert you!! It must be frustrating for our furkids sometimes when they are trying so hard to communicate with us. Give her lots of special attention, she definitely deserves it.
