Dow
Dow Chemical is one of my big accounts. Not my biggest, thankfully, but my second biggest. This is not good news:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/28/news...ion=2008122910 I'm very concerned about some of my customers. The Dow plant that I work with had realigned the entire plant in preparation for this joint venture. They had split the warehouse & doubled up on some of the inventory. The personnel had been realigned. One of my customers was retiring from Dow and getting a package of some kind giving him an extra $180,000 for his retirement. He was returning from vacation after the 1st to a new job for KDow. Actually doing the same job he was even for the same units, just relocating within the plant to another building. Not sure what this will mean for these folks. Most of the plant is down right now due to lack of demand for plastics due to the lower consumer demand and problems with the automakers. They were scheduled to start back up after the first of the year when the joint venture took affect. Who knows what will happen now. The people who were at the plant yesterday and not on vacation were all in shock. Please keep these and others affected by this financial crisis in your prayers. I think my little branch is alright and will weather this storm. Our incomes will drop as mentioned in other threads since a significant part of our income is commission, but we should be able to keep our jobs so that when things pick up, we will be ready to get busy. These are scary times!!!

I'm glad your job is not in jeopardy. My prayers for those who are not working or struggling so hard these days. It is so sad that people are in need.

That is scary Marilyn. I'm glad that your job is safe, but it's just so sad to see others in hard financial times. I sure hope the economy starts to bounce back soon...
Tuition at my school is going up by an estimated 25% next year due to the economy. That will be the first thing that has really affected me personally. Thank goodness for scholarships! Last edited by AngieDoogles; 12-30-2008 at 07:55 AM. |

It's so sad to hear about all of the companies that are in trouble and I hate how it affects so many people, especially my friends on 4WT. We sure are coming into a time of watching how we spend and cutting out things that aren't necessary.
Marilyn, I'm so glad that your job is secure and so sorry about your friends at Dow. I'm sure they're wondering what's going to happen next. I'll say a prayer for them.
