Should we take turns suggesting books or should we each suggest one and everyone vote on it? I want everyone's input. And maybe we can designate a certain day and time we will all be on so we can discuss the book. That way there can be great conversations with lots of us on at the same time.

Ohh, well, maybe one person could suggest a few books they like and then the group chooses from their selection and we could go around in a circle that way. A designated time sounds good to talk about the book but realistically thinking that may be easier said than done. Maybe that's just me though. I am excited about this!

Ok, well I guess we'll see if a few more ladies would like to join in. I'll keep bumping this thread up to see if anyone else wants in. Then we can decide on our first book. As for the "meeting" times, I realize everyone is on different time schedules and time zones but we can choose something convenient for most and we can always post on here whenever we want to. This sounds like it might work out nicely.

It sounds like a great idea to me! But not sure if I will have the time to participate. I absolutely LOVE to read.....but only certain types of books. My favorite are all the suspense type thrillers, the more "edge of your seat" the better! But I'm also one where if I get a book and can't "get into it" after the first chapter, I put it down and never pick it back up again. Not really into self-help type books and have never read one of Oprah's pics (although I've heard they were good). What I can do is, depending on the book and excert from it, I can join in on certain ones, may not be able to do them all.

I'm not real big into thrillers/mysteries and that sort of thing. I'm more into novel types. Peoples lives in different places. Here are some of what I have, been quite some time since I've read them, but I always place a red dot on the ones I truly enjoyed:

Deep End of the Ocean by Jacquelyn Mitchard (also a movie)

American Icon by Pat Booth

Gap Creek by Robert Morgan

Jewel by Brett Lott

A Map of the World by Jane Hamilton

Vinegar Hill by A. Manette Ansay

It doesn't really matter how many we have in the book club. Some selections may appeal to some while they may not to others. We could have like 30 - 60 days to read it and then come together in one thread where no other posts would be allowed except for the discussion of the book. What do you think?

Sounds good to me Janet. I am pretty open to reading all types of books so I am ok with whatever anyone else would like to suggest. It has been my experience that sometimes the book that doesn't necessarily fall into your preferred category, turns out to be the one you enjoyed the most. So, where to we begin?

I only read Dean Koontz. I'm a little OCD & I had trouble finding books I really love. Well I started reading him when I was a sophomore in high school & have only read books by him since (unless I have to read something for school). I have over 60 of his books now, some of which are out of print & cost me a pretty penny on ebay. If you guys decide you want to read one by him I'm all in. I would suggest Watchers, it is a thriller, but it has a really nice love story & a very special golden retriever.
