Please don't crash all stocks. I'm very close to retirement and you're wishing it away. I check at least once a month and did find where my hubby had goofed and his company wasn't withholding to his savings account. Luckily, I caught it after only a couple weeks.

Sandy about time i get to retire there's not going to be any money in my 401K, so i'm just not to worried about right now.. like i said before there will always be welfare and now Obama made it better more money and food stamps, so i'm not worried at all... i'll just say Mike moved out of the house and i have no income. i'm just to that point right now, why worry about the future, it just drives me nuts....

Haley, I'm sorry that you're still having problems with the company you work for. Their mistake probably did save you some money. {{{{{{Haley}}}}}

They really suck Haley! I don't think I would believe them, but you are right - you would have lost it anyway.
By taking charge of your own money, I think you are so smart. You are very practical and responsible, and have a good head for money. I admire you for that. I just wish you might stop being so anxious about the future and your retirement. You are doing all the right things, and the rest is simply out of your control. You're also young and have years before you need your retirement fund. Financial people are all saying it will get better in time. It's also going to get worse first. It is what it is, and there's not one thing we can do about it. So, say it turns around after a few years = you would have spent those years being frustrated for nothing! Maybe you could try to learn to enjoy one day at a time. Easier said than done, but with Micah, I think you can enjoy him all the time. Look at Janet's signature quote. It's so important to do that. In the end, it's God's will anyway. Trust in him.

Thanks Judy, i just can't help to be worried about the future, i read 6 papers a day and its all bad news, i'm a reader.
I try to be smart with my money, but now a days there is really nothing i can do with it but put it in "safe" places, like my Ira thru my bank. i moved my 401K what i have in it since my company screwed that up,, still pissed off about that into a retirement savings trust, it's not making that much money, but it will be safe there. at least i'm not going to lose it in the stock market anymore... I'm just stuck now on what i'm going to do about a college fund for Micah.. i need to start something soon, or just send him to a trade school.. yep still thinking about my sons future, if he has one..

Haley , I am so sorry to hear about your 401K plan, like most said you probably would have lost it. But the point here is that its done now. I watch Susie Orman a lot and I believe she mentioned in this economy if your company is not matching your 401K you are probably better off opening up a IRA account. Or to use that money and put it towards your mortgage for that is the ultimate goal of a 401 account for paying off the mortage when you retired. Not sure but go on her website and watch her show every Saturday nights @ 9 pm. She is very good and she also has written many books. Marilyn has given you good advice too.
As Judy mentioned don't worry about the future.. You are still young and the market will eventually rebound in time. My husband is closer to retirement and his mentally and feelings are the same. He is 54 yrs. old and he lost a lot to on his 401K. I feel for the people who are retiring now. Haley we are all feeling the effects one way or another today. I sypmathize for my children and others who will be graduating this year and finding a job on Wall street or any other business company will be very hard. They will have to start paying their student loans. I wish someone would lower their interests rates on their loans until they are employed., for how are they suppose to pay when they have no jobs... We can go on with so many problems... What is the sense... Hugs to you Haley ![]() Last edited by Gina; 02-20-2009 at 08:10 AM. |
