Lindsey, is that Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees? Sounds awful cold to me, how far north are you?

It's Celsius but -40 C is equal to -40 F so it's pretty close to the same!
I'm about 5 and a half hours from the American border (straight south of me is Montana)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for warmer days in your future! I know you are ready! Just think though, when I am sweltering in 100+ days, you'll be telling me how cool it is in Canada!

It should be much warmer now! The average temperature for this time of year is -3 C (26.6 F). But the forecast is saying it'll be above freezing by next Monday so I hope it's right!

Oh Gayle, with my luck, I'll be sweltering too! For the past few summers we've been hitting temperatures of 37 or 38 C (about 100 F) for a week or two and of course, no air conditioning!

I know, it can be really rough at those temps without air conditioning. I understand that! At least we have A/C. I'm already having to turn it on at night for us to sleep. Gary's oxygen machine puts off lots of heat. We keep our bedroom door closed to keep little furbutts from getting up and roaming the house at night, so it gets really warm in our bedroom. Gary just can't sleep when it's hot, so for the past couple of weeks, I have to turn it on when we go to bed. SIGH - it's too early to start paying those high A/C utility bills!! GRR!

I sure hope it warms up soon for you girl. I know you are sick of snow and cold!!!

The good thing about summer with no A/C is no bills! But I think we make up for it with heating bills The last bill was $277 It gets soooooo hot in my room overnight too. I'm used to being cool at night. My mom always turned down the thermostat at night, so I always have too. But my roommate has decided to reprogram ours to get HOTTER at night!!! It's terrible... by the middle of the night I can't even stay under the covers anymore! And we're paying like crazy for it

If the room mates want it higher then I would make them pay more. Seems only fair!!

today it's been raining really hard at times. Suppose to quit though and the temp is predicted to get to 70. Then it will slowly be dropping again to the 40's I think. At least it's not freezing or snow.

We have rain too, and it is warm. It was around 50 yesterday.

I'm going to wash my down coat later. Wish me luck!

According to the radio this morning on my way to work: "It is minus a bazillion degrees out there this morning, with a windchill of minus a bazillion and ten"
BUT now they're saying we should be above freezing by Friday! But I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.
Janet, I know that my roommate should be paying more, but it just wouldn't work. Then she would start saying we need to split the water bill, the phone and cable bill, everything differently. I shower every day, she showers every second day. My brother hasn't even been living there for the past few months (staying at his girlfriend's house every day and every night) but he still pays his 1/3 of the bill.
I'm just going to keep hoping for the day when I don't have to deal with having roommates anymore!

Brrrrr........and I thought that we were cold here!!! Lindsey, I just can't begin to think how cold -40 is!!! We had rain yesterday and a little bit this morning and we may have some ice freeze on but not much. It's definitely colder than it was yesterday and with the damp it feels colder. The 80* days have really spoiled me and I'm so ready for spring!!!!

-40 is not that bad when you have been in -60 (-76F) before I remember one day walking to the bus stop when the windchill was -60, and my eyes were poking out of my scarf but it was so windy that my eyes were watering... but of course as soon as the tears form, they freeze! So my eyelashes were covered in ice. THAT was cold! But this is still pretty bad for March It's expected in January, even through some of February, but it should be done by now!
Luckily now the only time I have to be outside is to start my car (even if I still had command start, it's too cold for it to work) and to walk from the parking lot to the office! I do not miss those days of walking across the university campus in this weather!
